+200 Bullying should be as strictly punished as being late to school or skipping exams. amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It should be as strictly monitored. It should be more severely punished however.

I agree .

I agree so much. I get an afterschool detention for showing up to class as the bell was ringing, but when I reported people who were harassing me, the counseling center said there was nothing the school could do.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That is so stupid! These people who were harassing you need to be punished and should be the ones getting detention. Bullying is bad, sometimes it could spiral out of the control.

Physical bullying or just verbal bullying? Because verbal abuse is a part of life and you have to deal with it.

What do you think about physical intimidation? Sometimes people can make you feel really threatened without actually touching you. Also, is sexual harassment something you consider just "part of life" if it's only verbal?

i'm sorry, that physical intimidation comment is garbage. whatever happened to "Don't judge a book by its cover." I used to get teased, and the teasers never got in trouble, instead i did because i was bigger and if i got angry i was "physically intimidating". So even when i was being bullied i could do nothing even though i was more than capable of handling myself in a nonviolent manner. Moreover the teachers couldn't do anything, and they wouldn't let me solve my own problem, so here i was stronger than them and still being bullied. Physical intimidation is a part of appearance, i'm intimidated by boxer's but i wouldn't call them bully's. Just because your intimidating doesn't mean your are a bully, and it most certainly doesn't mean you can't be bullied. calling someone a bully just because your afraid of them physically is stupid, especially if they haven't ever done anything to you, in fact its, as i said, profiling. If they have done something than its the action you should fear not the appearance. otherwise your just profiling.

Queez: I don't mean just being afraid of someone who looks scary. When I said physical intimidation I meant someone who's coming uncomfortably close to you, saying threatening things to you, following you around, things like that. Basically implying that they might hurt you, or they plan on doing it. I'm definitely not saying that people who happen to be tall and muscular are all bullies or anything like that. Self-defense isn't bullying either.

As a 6'2 person, I can back you up. I don't really care though, because everyone know I know how to hit people without leaving bruises, so they never go further than friendly teasing. But yeah. Verbal bullying doesn't do any real damage. It's something that if you ignore it, it really does go away. Sexual harassment is out of line, because it implies that you're about to rape them or something.

Qeez: Yes you are absolutely right. One can't call another a bully just because of his appearance. I used to get teased by people who were even smaller physically than I was. Curious: People who are following you around and trying to threaten you, you should ignore them, or make it clear they can't mess with you. These people are pussies they think they can scare you on a distance. Just laugh at them and walk away.

Maybe my school is different than yours because you could get suspended or expelled for bullying, but being late is just like if you get too many you need to go to Saturday school.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. Even in your school people could get bullied, but it wasn't reported. However I like your school for suspending students or even expelling for bullying :)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

At my school, you first have to talk to the correctional officer (and talking to the police should sufficiently scare the crap out of you) and then you'll likely get suspended or expelled. It doesn't always have to be reported by a student because a teacher can do so if they see it but if no one sees it and the victim doesn't report it, there's really not a lot you can do.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

:) that is something that should reinforced within All schools! But sometimes students do not want to report since they don't want to seem like chickens or something,

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think people should be encouraged to report if they see it since it would be anonymous. Whoever talks to the bully should probably reinforce that though since in middle school someone told the correctional officer this girl was calling me a bitch everyday and she assumed it was me. hmm
