+192 If you were in a relationship with someone and they said you had to choose between them and your pet, you would choose your pet, amirite?

When would you ever find yourself in a situation like this o.O

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The person could be allergic to your pet.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm assuming them needing to say so shows that it's not obvious, ie, not because they have a deadly allergy. Therefore, it's just their preference. I don't have a pet, but if a theoretical girlfriend couldn't live wiht my theoretical pet, it means she's not accepting of who I am, and therefore not marriage material.

--dont have a pet-- dont have a girlfriend*

They're both theoretical, but I'm 16 and have been in boys' schools since I was seven. A girlfriend is not likely, but a pet is a real possibility.

If its your family dog that's grown up with you, and your partner of two weeks told you to get rid of it, hell no. If you bring a goldfish home as a spur of the moment idea, and your spouse of six years hates it, ditch the pet.

If you have a pet that misbehaves or you did not train well and your significant other wants you to get rid of it, I feel that is a reasonable request on their part

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They're your bf/gf, not your mom or dad. It's unreasonable for them to ask you to get rid of just about any of your possessions.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'd be willing to get rid of the pet if we moved in together, but if they flat out gave me an ultimatum like that, I would choose the pet.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Absolutely. My dogs are like my children and anyone who doesn't understand that is not worth being with. There is always a compromise, e.g. if they had allergies they could take medication, or if they don't want the dogs in the bed we could get the dogs their own bed. I could never be with someone who doesn't like dogs at all. My ex would say he knows I'll be a great mom some day, because of the way I treat my babies (my dogs). If they were like, "It's me or the dog", I'd pick the dog, because not one of my dogs would ever force me to make a decision like that.

Then why didn't you yya?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You don't know that. Dogs can't talk.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I did. No idea why it's not showing up around my comment. @Celestialjess, what does talking have to do with anything? My point is that dogs show unconditional love, unlike people. If a dog was a jerk and wanted you to choose between him and a person, he could show you by barking at the person until they leave.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Do dogs have the capability to show conditional love though? Do they even have a choice? That's more of my point. Not saying that you should give up your dog for that person. I just don't think that's a good reason, at least the way you put it. Not in my opinion.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'd kick the bitch to the curb and keep my dog.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I really hate ultimatums, so there's usually a high chance that the person who's giving the choices, will lose out of spite.

Don't have a pet or a boyfriend so I will never have to choose! http://ctrlv.in/113998
