-45 Suicide should not be that big a deal. If someone is an adult, and can vote, pay taxes, and fight in the military, he or she should be allowed to decide to just stop living, amirite?

But what about when children and teens do it?

i'm sure you've heard it a million times, but suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. a suicidal persons mind is convinced that there is no hope, when in reality there is a lot of potential to life.

But even so, it's still their decision - not someone else's.

That's the worst saying ever. Out of context, it sounds fantastic. Permanent solution? I'll never have to deal with my problem again!

Say that to all the people out there with terminal diseases that strip them of all dignity. There are enough news reports online of cases where governments have stopped people from being able to commit suicide for some reason or another, and I'm pretty sure they'll have had more than enough time to weigh up the pros and cons.

My mother's love interest's wife committed suicide. And her autistic son walked in on her after she had done it. The child has post-traumatic stress disorder now. So, yes. It's totally not a big deal. I mean, like, it's not like it hurts anyone or makes anyone upset or can cause a chain of suicides. Totally. It's A-OK.

Being selfish about it doesn't help. There isn't really an easy way to deal with suicide in a society that expects everyone to live forever.
