It does get off stuff you ate recently so there isn't gunk stuck in your teeth. But for long term, yya.

My dentist has disposable toothbrushes in his office. The main reason I do it is to make my breath more pleasant for the hygienist.

Not much of a difference to you, maybe. As a dentist hopeful, I'd appreciate it if my patients were nice enough to brush their teeth so I don't have to wade through mashed up food and crappy breath
