+191 While it is hilarious that "Honey Boo Boo" got higher TV ratings than Mitt Romney's speech at the Republican National Convention, it reflects more poorly on Americans and their political ignorance, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Id be worried if it also surpassed the DNC. Otherwise I'm just laughing.

"it reflects more poorly on Americans and their political ignorance". You know, I'm pretty fucking tired of this Americans-being-ignorant bullshit. It's just the sad segment of all of shitty Europe and its inferiority complex. America isn't some hellhole like you all make it out to be, you know. So for the love of God, please think twice before posting such inanity.

I am OP and American. And I specified political ignorance, which is incontrovertible (and not unique to the U.S.).

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If you're OP, then why is your comment not yellow? And you still said "their political ignorance", implying Americans are ignorant.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If political ignorance isn't unique to the US why specify the US then?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Because TV ratings of a U.S. candidate and U.S. show are not very applicable to other countries.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes, but the fact you decided to make a post about American ignorance itself is awfully telling.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Exactly ctiscooler. Obviously you can't apply American media to other countries, but why even start out with the specification of Americans?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Political ignorance, quite obviously, isn't unique to the US, but your reminder is so very much appreciated anyway. OP places particular emphasis on American ignorance, so he's saying that America is particularly politically ignorant.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

He made the post anonymously.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Then how can I believe him?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't know...I guess you'd have to take his word for it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If you don't believe him, ask a mod. If he admits to it I'm sure they'll tell you if it's true or not.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think whether or not he is OP is irrelevant to the fact that this is an annoying stereotypical stupid Americans post.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Or maybe it's the fact that most of us don't like Mitt Romney and really don't care what he has to say (I'm not assuming this. I'm just guessing that maybe it could be a reason why)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Choosing not to watch political speeches you don't agree with is not the same as being ignorant of politics as a whole.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How are you supposed to know if you agree if you don't listen to them, just what the hype about them says? I think people should listen to both sides before choosing, and not doing so says no, you're not ignorant about politics as a whole, but you definitely chose to remain ignorant because of a biased opinion toward someone before hearing what they have to say.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't like Mitt Romney either, but I feel like that's a pretty dumb reason not to watch his speech. If you care about the election, you would still watch it just to be more aware about the candidates.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think it shows more that people know how full of shit politicans are. You think he or any politican will actually do anything in their speeches? I'd choose the little girl over any political speech

by Anonymous 11 years ago

- People don't like Mitt Romney - Honey Boo Boo has a wider demographic than the RNC - This doesn't tell of American ignorance.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well considering Honey Boo Boo's viewing age (I would assume) is much broader, so naturally there will be more views. Anything political is watched mostly by adults, not kids.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Look, it's not as horrifying as you all think. What we, the American people, were presented with was a choice between two people who both make us weep for the future of our species. So...we picked the one who was too young to know better.
