+65 In science, you check things out to see if they're true. In religion, you don't, amirite?

Shut the fuck up. Seriously. Why do people think it's so cool to bash religion?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why do people think it's so cool to swear? Also, it's hardly bashing religion. If you don't agree with it, just say so and provide counter-arguments. Don't just tell the person to shut up and complain about the nature of the post.

Why do people even care about cursing? You're being a bit hypocritical by complaining about the nature of my comment. Saying "in science, you do this (insert something positive). In religion, you do (opposite of what science does, negative trait)" is bashing religion. Do you really not see the holier than thou atheist attitude in this post?

So if I said dogs have a very good sense of smell and humans don't, is that bashing humans? Of course not. So why is it bad in this case?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Saying one has a better sense of smell doesn't imply one is better than the other as a whole. Saying one is true and one is not is completely discrediting people's beliefs. Saying dogs have a better sense of smell can be proven, religion is a belief. The two things are not even comparable.

Not that it isn't true, but that no one checks if it's true. Which is correct, because religion is faith-based. No one bothers checking if it's true because it doesn't matter.

I'm aware. I disagree with this post because there's no point in comparing religion to science. It's the same reason I disagree with posts that say "Harry Potter is better than Twilight." I like Harry Potter more, true, but the holier than thou attitude and comparing the un-comparable is disagreeable imo.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I can't believe someone just legitimately thought this was a good comparison.

I respect you, colebowl. You love science but disapprove of using it as an excuse to attack other people's beliefs.

This post isn't really an opinion. The difference between science and religion is that science is falsifiable, religion is not. It doesn't make one better, and it's not something you can agree or disagree with, as it's a fact.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Um... that's kind of the whole point of faith, dipshit.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SAY THAT. It's called faith for a reason :P

Religion involves believing in a God (or Gods) and things of that nature. Obviously no one's going to "check if it's true" because you can't really prove or disprove a God's existence. So this is a rather obvious post.
