How?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

... Have you read the books?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes. If I hadn't read the series I wouldn't be asking for an explanation as to how they're funny. And this time, please actually answer my question instead of trying to make it seem like it's oh so obvious and that if I'd read the books I'd know because it's just that obvious.

http://www.mugglenet.com/books/funnyexcerpts/funnyexcerpts.shtml If you've read the books, and aren't sure how they're funny, I'm not sure how helpful an explanation will be. But I'll try: there's people like Ron (who acts really goofy and funny - like how he makes fun of Trelawny and stuff) and Fred & George (who tell jokes all the time). Dumbledore has some pretty good one liners, and his oh-so-calm demeanor when dealing with idiots like Fudge is hilarious. McGonagall's cutting sarcasm is great too (google McGonagall quotes - that should keep you entertained for a while). Honestly, I could go on forever. Every one of the characters has their own sense of humour that comes through, I think. And even in the tensest of scenes, there tends to be something or another than lightens the mood. So yeah - the Harry Potter books have made me laugh out loud a number of times - so for me, that's what makes them funny! Humour can't be explained in the way you want, so if you don't think they're funny, then that's that, I suppose.

Funny lines=/=funny book. Ex: if a funny movie had a sad line, the movie isn't sad just because of that line.

Hm. I see what you mean, but a book is never just funny, or scary, or sad. Maybe the Harry Potter books are MORE scary than funny (for example) but that doesn't mean they're not also really funny. There are some ways in which they are funny, there are ways in which they are sad. So I'm not sure about what you expected/wanted when you asked "how?"

No, people don't overlook the little humor that there is, and no, they're not that funny.

favorite line in the books Dursley - "you're watching the news again!" Harry- "Well it changes everyday you see"

The best line from the movie (IMO): Ron: "Why spiders? Why couldn't it be follow the butterflies?"

I really love this one: Harry: Yes Snape: Yes //sir// Harry: You don't have to call me sir, professor. And omg I love kreacher's lines he's hilarious, this is my fav quote for him when Hermione was talking to him: "The mudblood is talking to Kreacher, Kreacher will pretend he did not hear" And of course the Fred and George lines, Ron, and basically everyone else lol each character has said at least 1 or 2 funny lines.

Have you seen the movie for The Half-Blood Prince? That's quite funny, so I think people are aware that Harry Potter can be funny.
