+113 It would be amazing, as well as an interesting social experiment, if, for just one week, everyone shut off their phones, computers, iPads, etc. and lived simply. Amirite?

My high school did that as a contest, and unsurprisingly many people didn't make it for a week. Obviously if someone made it they were lying.

Do wakeup alarms count on the cellphone?

Was there a prize? If not, I wouldn't have even tried. I can read for a while, but I prefer to type my school work because I have terrible handwriting. Plus there are some friends I never see and only talk to on skype, so that would suck.

I could do it. I'd just need to stock up on books.

And pot...

This sounds great if you're just a kid in school. In the real world though, things need to get done and it's all ruled by technology. Our daily lives rely on other peoples ability to use cell phones and computers to mass produce food and comfortable living conditions that we pay for.

you can't call 911.

Only communicative technology or things like fridges and cars too? Without my phone, computer and iPod (and TV and radio), I wouldn't be able to contact people I know, listen to music, to research, watch shows or do my schoolwork. I'd be bored but I could make it through a week of that with books and crosswords/sudoku. The problems come with more important things. No schoolwork, no contacting people. Without a fridge, kettle & oven I'd have almost no food. Without a car I couldn't get to the shops. There'd be no hot water. Can I go into a weeklong coma during this experiment? I think I'd rather drop dead than be without any technology whatsoever for an entire week.

Some of you are taking this wayyyy too seriously! They're just saying that for one week, people should try to rely less on technology and focus on things like being outside, socializing, etc.

There are so many times I wish I could do this. Usually after staring at a computer for a few hours doing work... >_>
