+201 As long as you've 100% confirmed the person's identity, and webcam chat/I.M them fairly often, it's entirely possible to be friends with someone you've never met in person. amirite?

Having spurious internet friends is just as good though...

And like, if you ever meet them in person it'll be such a great experience. I would probably cry if I met one of my best internet friends in real life.

I think it is still possible to be friends with someone without doing all of that. Maybe not best friends, but still friends.

I started writing to a girl my age in the kid's pen pal section of an animal magazine five years ago. She's now my best friend and since she lives on the other side of the country, we chat online almost every day.

I think if I met a friend in real life when I first met them online, it would be really awkward... because you've talked about all these amazing things, but in real life, you don't have a couple extra seconds to think about what you want to say. There would be a lot of awkward pauses. At least, for me it would.

I met my boyfriend online... We've been together over 3 years now. I only met him in person a year ago. So yeah, its possible (;
