-81 Your loyalty should go to your fiancée over your parents and siblings since your going to marry your fiancée, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're assuming that the issue would lie with the fiancée. Maybe its the families fault and not your fiancee's. In that case your loyalty should go to your fiancée. Think about it you are going to be spending the rest of your life with them. I'm not talking just a boyfriend or girlfriend here

I agree with actionman in that your loyalty should be equal. I don't think that if your fiancé doesn't agree with your family that they aren't the right person to marry. That's something you'll have to scope for yourself. I mean, families feud all the time right? This is difficult for me to vote on, because its too broad. I think every situation has it's own conclusion. So, it really depends on what happens.

I see what you're saying and I agree with you. I totes agree that its dumb to say that just cuz ur fiancée doesn't get along with ur fam that u shouldn't marry them

Your loyalty should lie with whoever is right in a situation. Blindly advocating for either side makes no sense because it will alienate you from the opposing side. Though, you must try to understand both sides completely.

In general, you should be equally loyal to both, but when he becomes your wife, she gets a small advantage. Not because if she disowns you, you lose half your stuff, but because of a whole host of other factors that led to her becoming your wife.

Last time I checked you cleave to your husband/wife and leave your family. That doesn't mean ignore your family but it oes mean you should stand by your life partner. You are marying and possibly having children with your spouse not your parents or siblings.

Yeah and then you get divorced AND have no family by your side.

Who says you won't have friends by your side? Besides with that attitude that family comes before your spouse is a recipe for divorce.

This is too vague for a definite answer.
