+129 For a high school student going to college or university, it's a daunting task to figure out what you want to do, where you want to do it and how to get the money to do it. amirite?

The money is easy. Student loans

I don't know if it's as simple as that, they don't give out loans to everyone and sometimes it can be really difficult to pay them back.

In England they do. And grants based on your parents' income. And you pay it back slowly in really small payments and only when you earn over a certain amount.

See here in 'murica we get charged too much, then have to take out a giant loan with a large interest rate. Then we end up being hassled for years to pay it off, only to pay it off and be called by the college to ask for alumni donations. Gotta love the red, white and blue...

Haha Britain is red white and blue too. How much is it for a year in college in America?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I haven't started looking into it yet, but my brother's school is $59,000/year and a typical state school is $25,000/year

omg thats so expensive! There were strikes here when it went from £3,000 to £9,000 per year

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah it's a messed up system. It started off just kinda expensive, so the government started giving out loans, and then the colleges recognized that people had more money and started charging more.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They shouldnt be allowed to! Here the government controls what they can charge

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah that needs to happen but so far our candidates are more caught up with whether the rich have to pay more taxes or not.
