It what way is it a concept? Seems pretty definite to me.

What we perceive as life is not as fine a line as what we define as life- it feels more like a spectrum than a yes-or-no thing. Something that can respond seems alive, though may not technically. Something sentient, and self-reflective seems more alive to me than an animatronic creature.
