I assume the man believes differently than most people on the Science Committee. Why is that such a problem? He conducts research the same way as everyone else. He may interpret the data differently, but so what? The data are still there. Don't discriminate based on other's beliefs.

He says his research shows the earth is 9,000 years old. Someone who believes the earth is 9,000 years old shouldn't be on a COMMITTEE specifically for overseeing scientific policy. There's a difference between discriminating someone for their beliefs and being incompetent at your job.

He's deciding scientific policy, and you don't see the problem with him being completely ignorant on scientific fact? Why don't we just have CEOs who don't know how to run a business too?

Paul Broun can believe anything he wants to believe. I find what he believes discomforting, but that's his right.

His "research", however, seems to be nothing more than studying a 2,000 year old book, and rejecting all evidence to the contrary. Anyone who ignores the value of the scientific method has no place on the Science and Technology Committee.
