It's awkward when you tell a stranger "Merry Christmas" and they're Jewish, amirite?

I see what jew did there.

Eh, by "Merry Christmas" I'm just telling them to have a merry December 25th, whether they care that it's Christmas or not.

Most people where I live are Christian anyway, they have a right to assume I am too. When they wish you to have a happy holiday, they don't want to offend you even if you don't celebrate it.

Well I'm a cashier at a supermarket and i worked the day before Christmas eve. I got a lot of people sing merry Christmas and i said it back. They were wishing me good cheer and i like that. Besides Hanukkah has been over for about a week. Wishing me a happy Hanukkah would have been weird.

I don't remember having that happen to me. At least, I never said, "Merry Christmas" to someone with the response "I'm Jewish."

It's even more awkward when you tell someone "Happy Holidays" and they scream at you that it's actually "Merry Christmas". (This happens more often than you can imagine)

My Jewish friend actually celebrates Christmas too. not the religious part, though.
