+78 You really don't want to buy textbooks because not only do they cost a pretty penny, you only use them for that semester/class and never crack them open again most of the time, amirite?

I know you can sell it but new editions are constantly coming out and even if not, the value of it goes down I've only had to buy one textbook for all those other classes I borrowed/got it from my friend checked it out at the library or found out that the exam is based on lecture notes I've also seen that a lot of times, just going one edition back isn't that big of a deal and the price is a small percentage of the new edition

Because of the way that this comment was formatted, I read it like a semi-deep poem.

Shurie said almost the same thing

My textbooks cost 750$ last semester =/

by Anonymous 11 years ago

that is a lot but a friend of mine paid over 1,000 bucks one semester I think the most I spend in a semester was less than 200 bucks cool

I forgot that the Canadian dollar is different (unless you commute to another country)

I ask the teachers and people who've had the class before how much the book is actually used before buying it. If I absolutely must have it, I buy it used, take good care of it, and resell it. Saves me a ton of cash.

You can get books online MUCH cheaper than from the school bookstore. I spent the most I ever have on textbooks this semester: roughly $150. A lot of 'staple' books (chemistry, calculus, etc.) can be found on torrent sites. Thanks to that, I paid a total of $8 on books last semester :)

this semester, I actually paid nothing textbook-wise and I paid nothing last semester too because I did a lot of the stuff that I listed above 8 bucks is pretty impressive though

Attention to my fellow English majors: A good 96% of your books can be found on Amazon for less than $5. I had eleven books required for this semester, and I only paid about $50 (including shipping).
