The first time I had a male teacher was in 7th grade.

Skipped pre-school

I didn't go to preschool. It's pretty unnecessary unless the parents have work because then it's like a free daycare.

It helped me get used to the school environment. I was an only child and not used to being around so many kids. I also got a head start on reading.

It helps develop social skills, and there are plenty of studies that show the benefits. I actually learned stuff in pre-school.

That makes sense. When I was little though, my mom would take me to the park all the time and I'd have little playdates with her friend's children, I'm sure that helped develop social skills. What is taught in preschool?

Yeah, but preschool develops a different kind of social skill set. There are no mothers there. It helps with independence, critical thinking, etc. There are clear benefits, especially since everything won't be so new when you enter kindergarten. I for one learned how to count, the letters and the sounds they made, how to make certain snacks, songs, dances, games. (You can probably learn some of this stuff without preschool, but it's about timing and environment). I'm just saying it's a lot different than a free daycare.

Well, yeah. There aren't many male teachers in k-12 school anyway, and all of them are pretty much resigned to middle and high school for fear of being thought sexual predators otherwise. It's the same thing when people don't trust male babysitters, etc.
