+97 Why is everyone against Valentine's Day nowadays? Sure it must suck to spend it single and yes love should be shown every day of the year instead of just on one day, but this is not what it's all about. Valentine's Day is just like Mother's day or Father's day but for your partner; it is a special day where you and your loved one get to appreciate each other and realize how much they mean to you. Amirite?

some don't like the pressure it adds expectations and whatnot from the community and/or prefer those special days to come randomly of course, an individual could just choose not to pick that specific day no one's forcing someone to celebrate Valentine's well maybe not no one there are some maniacs out there maniac then, there's the whole thing with money wary

I am a fan of Valentine's day.

I've never really had a date on Valentines day before foreveralone but I'm a fan of it as well.

Me either really. But I like to give cards to everyone and, if I can afford it, little candies or whatever. One time I gave out 2 dozen roses to random people walking by. I subscribe to the grammar-school method of asking everyone to be my valentine.

Aww that's really cute of you :)

This upcoming Valentine's Day is going to be the first one I don't spend single and so far I've found the the build up to it is much nicer when you're not seeing someone because //I have no fucking idea what I'm supposed to do.//

A romantic date works. Wine and Dine, dancing, walk on the beach if you live near to it, a picnic. ect.

I vote something small, a single flower and an "expensive" desert or beverage, and a hand made card.

You haven't offered any convincing counterpoints to the argument that we shouldn't need a specific day to show appreciation and realize what someone means to us

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The point isn't that we don't need to have a specific day for that, we don't need any holiday, the point is that that we //do// have a day for that and it's stupid for people to hate it.

This year is the first time I have someone to celebrate it and damn it if I'm not gonna do something cute.
