+100 Some of the graffiti that you see on the street deserves to be in an art museum, as it is better than some of the stuff currently there, amirite?

Art is subjective but yeah, I like some graffiti more than I like some paintings. At the same time though, what the graffiti is painted on adds to its value and transferring it to canvas wouldn't have the same appeal.

I'm fairly certain that graffiti in a museum is called //vandalism//, as it is a conscious destruction of property. Street art is for the **//streets//** for the //**public**// to appreciate. True graffiti doesn't need a Board of Directors to determine its value.

Graffiti in a lot of big cities is amazing. I took a bus tour of Madrid and the artwork on some of the streets is really beautiful.

Art dies when it's put in museums. A lot of what makes street art cool is the media used and the "surprise" of seeing it (walking down the street and suddenly seeing a very nice art piece versus going to a museum specifically to look at artwork). And in a museum, it's like everyone has to stand around at an appropriate viewing distance and whisper quietly to the person next to them about why they like the piece; while in public you're free to do... whatever, which is a much more pleasurable—and less forced—viewing experience, in my opinion.
