What 'culture' are you talking about?

Yeah, and what do you even base this opinion on? If we're talking about a cultural decline, I'd say that the purveyors of trash on networks like Fox News are mostly to blame ... and oh look they're mostly white! If you think white people are some kind of culturally superior race, I have two words for you --- "Glenn Beck".

So you obviously hate Fox, Beck, and probably Rush, and Hannity. But were it NOT for some of these valid news outlets, we would not find out about half of the crap being done to us by our government. If that is fine with you, then so be it. But some of us want to know all we possibly can. I will take it where and by whom I can get it. Mainstream media has been proven to be in the back pocket of the current "leader" of our nation. And just for fun, have you checked the ratings of all the outlets and people you hate or despise? They have the highest of any other groups or agencies. Ratings simply translate in to MORE are listening to and watching them than any others out there. By putting down the biggest, you make yourself even smaller.

I don't listen to them - I get the same information from //al jazeera// but it is unbiased and not filled with venom and hate.

Which is perfectly cool. But to attack a certain element of news casting as inferior just because they are reporting things others are not is ridiculous. I am looking more at the conspiracy theory news outlets because they seem to be on a more "cutting edge" than any (Drudge Report, Breitbart).

Yes. But I would say BBC is far less biased than is Fox.

They have high ratings...so I should like them? That's like saying I should buy a PC because Microsoft has more money than an alternative. That's utterly ludicrous. I dislike Fox News because I think they dumb down and trivialise important things, and are soft on those tied in with their corporate interests. I think to make the argument that I'm "small" because I'm dissing the biggest is a fatuous and contrived argument that means absolutely nothing. The Catholic Church is the biggest Christian denomination, should we all believe in what they have to say? That's MENTAL! Also, what has any of that got to do with the OP? I'm making the point that if there is indeed a cultural decline, it's insane to try and blame it on non whites, as the OP does!

And that is everyone's choice. I only cited the numbers to show that a big number of people DO like them. It does not mean YOU have to. We got off on news because you called certain news outlets "purveyors of trash." That was quite a strong statement on your part.

yes it was, and one with far more merit than the OP's much stronger statement. people liking them doesn't make them less trashy. would you call a garbage tabloid newspaper "insightful and informative" just because 100 million people read it each day? there's a huge leap of logic in there that's frankly dangerous and bordering on lunacy

I was making the point initially that addressed the OP, you took a weird tangent littered with logic leaps that made no sense whatsoever, and now you're calling my point crazy? With no explanation? If you think that those trashy networks are not examples of america's cultural decline, then you are indeed the crazy one.

Since we are getting nowhere fast, I will not engage this back and forth any more. For some reason you want to be superior and more right than anything I said. So be right and quit telling me that I am crazy or have warped logic. You have not demonstrated anything of superiority or substance. You speak in very broad sweeping terms and include many "I think" "I feel" "I believe" - which is what opinions are made of. I did not say I was above the OP or you - I merely commented and asked a question. If I happen to LIKE Fox, Beck, Levin, Hannity, Rush, etc., does that make me less qualified or inferior to you because you happen to dislike such people? If you will note, I never did vote on the OP's post. I only commented originally to one of your comments - specifically the "purveyors of trash." Since a PURVEYOR is one who promulgates something (typically lies), I took offense to your generality and sweeping reference. I also made it clear that the "purveyors of trash" bring more news to light and our attention than most any other MSM out there. If you wish to believe and feel otherwise, that is your choice. I have made my choice, and you want to call me crazy and looney for doing so, And that is where your logic is weak, narrow, and incorrect.

Only the rich culture has become more rich. Those in poverty are not getting richer or doing any better. If a person already has money, then it is much easier for them to make more [the saying "it takes money to make money" is true]. If a person has no money, then there are not as many or the same opportunities to make more or even make it big.

....By more rich, I didn't mean it in a monetary way lol Besides, there's the whole "white people have no culture" stereotype. You have people coming in from different countries, and bringing their culture here. Not only that, but there's also interracial marriage/second generation immigrant kids who have the best of both worlds. If anything, I think there's more culture/diversity now.

So if all that is true, why is the "white people have no culture" a stereotype? Is it not possible that white culture is and has been replaced by all the other cultures? Can you name a governmental benefit or holiday set aside for white people in this country? It has always been assumed that JUST because a person is white, they //have// and //will// do better. That simply is not true.
