+8 'God' is just a way to cope with reality, like dreaming. One thing they both have in common? Neither of them are real. Amirite?

No reason to be on the attack. Nobody knows whether not there's a God.

Much like mythical monsters, religions and gods were made up to explain the unknown. People didn't understand how weather worked so they decided there were rain gods and angering them meant drought. The idea of death and the nothingness that probably follows is scary so why not come up with the idea of an afterlife...but only for the good people! It's always just been a way to explain the unknown.

dreaming is very real

both are real. dreams in the same way as god. Both create firm ground for you to stand on if you need it. I know of few who givin the right circumstance would not cry out for help from some unseen savior. and you can not say until you are in this position how you would react. I believe you have a very biased view of what is real.

I admit my view my be biased. Though that is because I have grown up in a Christian family, and throughout all the hardships I suffered, god never had and inclination to help. Therefore, I have been in 'that position' as you put it. I soon overcame wanting any guidance from god because I learned that I wouldn't receive any.

I'm not sure how you figured this one, but, living a "godly" life brings a harder life than an ungodly person will ever incur. A Christian life is the hardest life to live in reality. Test it out yourself if you want to prove that fact.

To me dreaming is very real. It might be in my brain, but it's real things that happen to me, and it gives me real memories that affect my life. Much more real than god.

Philosophy

I am a witness that there is a divine power. I will call this divine power my God, my Creator. Because I have had such powerful experiences I cannot question if there is a "God" ... Now coping and reality are two entirely different things. We all cope with whatever it may be in our own way. Some turn to drugs and alcohol as a way to escape this reality and go into a reality where they have that release. This doesn't make it bad or wrong. We don't have to accept it. There is reality like here in the now, this is real, in our eyes so to say. Then there is un-real reality. Where one is able to see and hear beyond the now.
