+490 Its weird how people have sex, then are upset when they get pregnant. I mean, sex is the human way of making babies, so what did they expect, amirite?

I agree-but they should have also at least used a condom

Maybe they're upset because their method of birth control didn't work.

I think you should add in "unprotected" before sex and then I would agree with this.

There's no such thing as "safe sex". Condoms and birth control pills don't always work, and if a couple is going to have sex they should be aware of that and be prepared to handle a child should their precautions fail them.

There no such thing as "safe" anything if you think about it that way. You could technically die by touching a door knob and getting a disease.

We're not talking about general safety for life, we're talking about safety with sex. And there's no such thing as "safe" sex, because regardless of whether you use a condom and/or pills, there is always the possibility the condom will break, the pills will fail, or they just flatout don't work.

I guess, technically, you are right. You are always at risk of getting pregnant when ever you have sex (penile-vaginal sex that is). Many birth controls have a 90-99% success rate so when you use two birth controls at the same time the chances of both of them failing when used correctly are nearly negligible. With plenty of STD screenings and the right forms of birth control, sex can be pretty damn safe. I'm not saying people shouldn't be aware of the risks involved with sex; I'm all for more sex education, but I think that exaggerating the dangers of sex to keep people from doing is the worst thing we can do. We can't expect women to make responsible choices when we're telling them misleading info. Sex is a fun emotional and spiritual experience and there's a lot more to it than just making babies. Not every couple should be expected to have sex only when they want a child. Some people never even want children!

This is true, but honestly if people either aren't ready to handle a child or aren't willing to give a child up for adoption, they shouldn't be having sex. There is more to sex than having fun.
