Would you seek the truth if you knew it held no happy answers?

Depends on what truth we're talking about. Some things we just don't wanna know

Tis always better to know the truth even if you don't like it.

Yes.

IMO, it's the most basic element that makes life worth living.

Take that away, and I much prefer death over life.

Yes, I would like to know the truth - even if it's bad news.

We had a discussion about this in the philosophy class I took in the spring. Our teacher read us a story about a woman who sought the truth about her family and ancestry. She had always heard stories and suspected some of them might not be true. Well, she discovered dark secrets about her family when she investigated, found out some people were criminals and stories about heroic deeds were untrue, and it caused other members of her family to turn against her, shun her, and essentially kick her out of the family. So the teacher's question was: did she do the right thing?

Most of the people in my class said yes, she did the right thing because she told the truth, and that's what really matters. But I remembered at the beginning of the story, it was said that her goal was not to break apart her family, she was trying to bring them together with the truth, but it failed. So she did the wrong thing as far as her goals went, but for her personal integrity, she did the right thing. But what's better in the end?

Truth can be very subjective when you get right down to the nitty gritty.

Truth is truth whether revealed or concealed. If your grandpa was a high way robber, saying it or not cannot erase that fact. So, it's better you just knw of it.

I've never looked for the Rosie side. Just how to make reality suck less.
