Explained by _Howler_...

This song has been covered by many blues artists..I tend to like the way George Thorogood covered it here, but i like the others as well.

I think this song is an original of a great blues artist named Chester A. Burnett, better known as "Howlin' Wolf", if anyone is interested..

Wilson Pickett - 1966 - "Land of 1000 Dances".

Never been a dancer, but I'm probably Wilson Pickett's biggest fan.

Allman Brothers - 1972 - "One Way Out"

I think this was an original Elmore James song.
I'll post that version below if anyone is interested in hearing the contrast of the two.

Love Brubeck...And the drummer in that clip, Joe Morello, was one of the best jazz drummers ever...He started out as violinist as a child, supposedly turned to drumming just a few years later, and ended up having drum instruction/technique textbooks dedicated to him from others who recognized how unique his talent was with the sticks.

Love that "big band" stuff...Miller was a favorite of mine...Always think of the song "In the Mood" by his band when I think of Mr. Miller, and watching folks jitterbug to it when I was a child.

Thanks.

In the Mood is a great song, one of the local schools used it in their marching band, and they won first! lol

I like some of the big bands, Ray Conniff, Mantovani are two that I especially like.

I love Jackie Gleason's music, I don't consider him a "big band" but I especially like this song.

All great choices IMO.

Think I have some of all three on old (probably warped) vinyl LPs in a box stored for years in one of my closets.

Makes me wanna buy a turntable to play them on.

Thanks.

I have to agree...After digital technology came on the scene, I gave into it regretfully.

The old turntable I had was a good one with excellent balance and all, but it eventually went bad, and I couldn't get it repaired with any success.

Finally sold it in my neighbor's charity garage sale back in 92 to a vinyl record "purist" who thought he could salvage it for themselves.

As did we all but there is nothing like the sound of vinyl , my Nan has a huge collection of music thru the ages and I've always gone straight for her turn table since I was a Girl. Country , Big Bands , Rock and roll , Classical and so much more

Even got my Girl into Vinyl , she won't buy CD's now (smile) her first album was Nirvana *She's kind of cool like that*

Vinyl analog really does hold on to the sound wave better than digital technology (minus any popping noise and such from the flaws that might be in the vinyl I suppose).

Y'all are gonna have me spending money on another turntable now...lol

But, that'a good thing.

Seven Turns by The Allman Brothers

A great song that I love, because of my husband and I being friends who would hang out together via mutual friends for MANY years BEFORE we "found each other" lol :)
