punctuation and word placement is also important . eat grammy? hope not . Since all we have are words here, I often read something out loud to see how it will sound

Very true. Sometimes, however, I make the mistake even though I know better but I'm in a hurry and, naturally, don't notice is until I hit "send."

linn that happens all the time, good thing we have just a little time to recall and repair. I have deleted and started over if the mistake is really numb.

lol I liked your typos! lol

I hate it when I make a typo, sometimes I have enough time to correct it, though.

Sometimes errors will go unnoticed ... but some can totally destroy your intended meaning! (a)

Whenever I make a typo online I am pretty sure this occurs (wary). It doesn't bother me if someone makes a mistake. I don't get paid to proofread their stuff or mine. Plus it requires me to actually care (biggrin)

For me it is, anyway. I'm always leaving words out that I intended to and thought I typed or wrote. Sometimes I catch it when "proofreading", but often I don't. (redface)

Actually, Mr Lewis was well-educated.

However; phonetic, non-standard spelling was nothing unusual in those days. Nobody even proposed a standard method of spelling in America until Noah Webster’s Speller came out in 1783.

I agree with that. I can't spell well so I always proofread, sometimes I still miss a mistake, but hey I really try.
