A good top-notch lawyer should be able to convince a jury the world is flat

Explained by glad_hands...

You'd hire a lawyer with a sleazy reputation if you figured he or she could get you off (keep it clean, people... 😋), right?

Probably my ex wife's lawyer could convince them of that! Luckily for me? I had a better one! Never hire a sleazy lawyer as I'm sure something comes along with it!

A lawyer "should" be a person who does what is needed to protect someones rights and help see justice get done. Unfortunately, that's not how they are rated today. They are rated by how likely they are to get a guilty person acquitted, how much money they can get from a company, how they can "use" the millions of laws to evade or exploit the justice system.

Same with a debater. The problem is, many people fall for it. For instance, all you have to do is call the other person's sources fake news now a days and somehow you have more credibility by your peers even if its just bs

It's been said one of the greats didn't know the law... he hired people who did. You want an orator to state your case.

Only if the law says the world is flat, the judge tells the jury to disregard their personal knowledge and only go by what the law says, and the jury doesn't believe in The Right of Jury Nullification.

It's a "fail safe" to get out of jury duty.
Wait until the judge asks if anyone would have a problem following his instructions ... then state that you believe in the Fully Informed Jury and Jury Nullification.

Because usually the judge's instructions tell you to disregard everything except the law. (Meaning if all the witnesses say 2+2=7, the jury can't say "That's obviously wrong.")

Usually, they will call me in to the judge's chamber - with the defense and prosecuting lawyers - and ask me why I wouldn't obey the judge's instructions. I always calmly explain, and they send me back to the jury pool .

I have served on a couple juries, so it doesn't automatically disqualify you. But they know ahead of time what they are getting from me, so neither side can claim I somehow "tainted" the jury.
