Washington DC is currently vulnerable to a submarine attack or air attack from carriers in the Atlantic Ocean. Ground troops could easily invade after a //conventional// first strike, let alone a nuclear strike, with tanks, artillery, and ground troops. Further inland, the Capital would be protected from an invasion by 1800 miles of terrain and the Mississippi River on the east, and the Rocky Mountains on the west.

What's the difference? Other countries know where all of our strategic hideouts are and we know where theirs are.
Besides, there wouldn't be any invasion because the first nuclear strike would lead to M.A.D. anyways. So it really doesn't matter.

We don't want all those corrupt politicians and their endless lines of toadies in Colorado.

Your concern - "Ground troops could easily invade "

Nuh-uh! The District of Columbia law prohibits the possession of handguns, even in private citizens' own homes, unless they were registered before 1976. So, an invasion is not possible! (hehe)(jolly)(think)(maniac)(punk)

If we move all our politicians to Finland, you have to agree to keep them.... and continue to support them in the opulent lifestyle they have grown to expect.

I'll personally make sure, that there are plenty of hookers to choose from. And if they want to have a blast, we have a perfect test zone for the next generation nukes. It's called Ahvenanmaa in Finnish, but really, it's just as much a part of Finland than the appendix is a productive part of your bowls.

Ever notice that in DC, everything seems to be "free"? All the costs for the numerous museums, and the zoo are paid for by Federal tax dollars. That mean that a taxpayer from Colorado is paying for museums and a zoo they most likely will never have the chance to visit. Now lets look at the cost to go to the zoo and museums in Denver. The zoo, is $20 a ticket. Museums are about $15 a ticket for each museum. Why is that?? DC has a culture of everyone else picking up the tab.

Let me provide a little news flash that you should realize before asking the question. If you don't think those very things have not been planned for to the tenth power, you are decidedly naive

And if YOU think that there aren't enemy infiltrators, spies, sympathizers, and computer hackers who could not disable those safeguards, then you are decidedly naive, and quite likely a stolen valor Ranger.

while doomsday and "what-iffers" are all nifty suppositions. It's all very fluid and for every punch a counter-punch and I'm confident with what's on the table to protect America's assets.

No Need. Just set up lots of intercepting rockets - blow any threat out of the sky before it reaches dc.

FYI for a long time the target with the most missiles aimed at it was a hot dog stand in the courtyard of the Pentagon. Russians learned from satellite images that dozens of military officers attended meetings in that building around noon every day, so they assumed it was of utmost importance and watched it constantly. It is said there were never less than two missiles aimed at that building.
