+125 The world would be a better place without plastic surgery, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm guessing you meant cosmetic surgery?

Plastic surgery is more than just face lifts and butt implants. It's restoring a person to their natural beauty if they've been burned or scarred. Sometimes if a person has their face burned, they need a whole new nose or lips simply to be able to breathe and talk right. So I disagree.

Reconstructive surgery, which I coincidentally got on my hand two days ago.

I dont see whats wrong with people trying to make themselves feel good about themselves. When someone works hard for the money, is it really any different than dieting, exercising, wearing make up or stying your hair to make yourself look better?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, it is.

i see your point, waldotracker, but maybe without cosmetic surgery, people wouldn't have to get a new face or body to feel good about themselves. Isn't it important to learn to accept yourself for who God made you, so that you can accept others just the same?

I meant cosmetic. People should embrace their original genes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It would be a better place if people didn't buy into manufactured concepts of beauty.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, that's easy to say when you don't hate your face, or dislike your body, or have a huge nose, thin lips, small boobs etc....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hate my nose, the size of my eyes and most of my face in general but I've learned to accept it for my body. Why should I change myself to be "perfect"? I feel like if I got a nose job, I would no longer be comfortable in my body because it wouldn't be mine.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well everyone is different and you're lucky that you can accept yourself because I've tried and I just can't get over it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then being that superficial you are going to suffer in life.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's easy for you to say I had to have plastic surgery when I fractured a bunch of bones in my face. It was either that or I lived the rest of my life completely deformed. And I know a girl who was born with a disgusting-looking birthmark that covered her entire face. She got it removed when she was five. That was in her original genes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, but it's the reason and the mentality with which they do it that's the problem. I mean, I'm sure she didn't do it to 'be more beautiful', but more like a necessity to live a more normal life.

I have a disgusting big-ass nose that I'm going to change once I've saved enough money. Then I'll be happy with my appearance. It doesn't hurt or affect anyone else - it's my decision for my own body.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, it does in that you're making superficial things heavier than moral values, that affects the whole world, which is probably why you want to get a nose job in the first place.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It really does not affect the whole world, at all, and I know for a fact that I'm not superficial. I have extremely high morals, thanks. Everyone does things to improve their appearance - everyone wants to be happy with how they look. There is nothing wrong with me saving up my own money to undergo a procedure that I want to have for my own personal gain.
