most commercial rap is shit. just like most commercial music of any genre. the lesser-known stuff is good, if you ask me. Binary Star, N.W.A. to name two. Lupe Fiasco is a little bit known just because of ''superstar'', but that's definitely not his best. Lupe Fiasco is like the younger, better, less-douchey version of Kanye West.

just like any other genre of music, a lot of rap is trash. yet many lesser known rapper create music that is beautiful artwork and just as valid as any other music. so stfu and stop making ignorant comments like all raps sucks when the only rap you've listened to is on the radio.

I hate rap. I'm sorry, you can talk all you want about how "artistic" it is, but to me it's just plan crap. I listen to bands, where people actually know how to play instruments and have decent vocal skills. It takes more effort, and the result is more unique. (Except for the copycats you see in mainstream, they all sound the same)

Its a skill different than singing. Its not easier and to prove it not all singers can rap good and not all rappers can sing good. Its vocal percussion, using the voice for a rhythm and beat. The music is made often on instruments of electronic form and sometimes they do use real bands with drummers and guitarists.

Mainstream rap sucks. Except for Eminem. He is the only one who knows how to change words up, and he rarely talks about sex and drugs. Rock and roll used to be the same thing before too. Listen to the underground rap.Those are the kind of raps I like.

I think you may be mistaken. The mainstream pop rap on the radio is horrid, but if you look deep you'll find that rappers such as Mos Def and The Shugarhill Gang are quite good! :D

All of these comments can be taken so far. Rap music is a form of art.. it's hard to do fluently and with meaning. It;s just the stereotypical song that are about drugs and sex. Country music is a old culture of art. Every Genre is music.. just not to you maybe. And if you think about it, most pop songs these days are about sex and drinking and partying. To me.. rock from the 70-90's was music. It was plain and simple, and meaningful. That's the music I listen to.

Everyone always mis-spells rap I think it should start with a “c” I love all forms of music but, to me, rap is a form of street poetry with a noise background. It doesn’t even start to fulfil the basic conditions needed to be classed as music. But hey! I’m a Brit! What would I know about music, anyway?
