I still don't understand how pendulums swing back and forth forever, it doesn't sound possible. amirite?

They don't. The only way would be (as mentioned above) no friction/air resistance. They can keep going for quite a long time, but not forever without something synthetic to keep it moving.

Its the conservation of energy law (energy cannot be created nor destroyed it merely changes from one form to another). Now, in an ideal situation, the pendulum would keep going forever as the kinetic energy would just become potential energy and then back again etc. However, some of the energy is lost in the pendulum due to friction at the attachment, air friction, etc. so IRL it won't keep going forever.

Just so you know, matter is created and destroyed (see antimatter).

We're talking about energy here...

Matter = energy
Please, finish highschool.

Not at the same time. Take physics again.

.....really? Jesus Christ, Einstein would turn in his grave if he heard that.

Okay that wasn't phrased well...in fact, that was just stupid of me. But still the matter thing wasn't exactly analogous.

How the heck did this get so many yeah you ares? Anyone who has taken a grade 10 science course can tell you why... Or am I totally missing the joke?
