+245 You always wonder whether the cameraman has to go through all the shit Bear Grylls does on ultimate survivor, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

ive always thought about that! how come he doesnt get any credit??

See camera man struggling to keep up; better drink my own piss. That's all I've got y

There's a probably more than one camera man. I know that at some points in the show, there's a whole crew. Makes what he does seem less impressive knowing there's probably a buffet table a few metres away, eh?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure he doesn't actually survive in the wild. I always thought it was more of a "I'm going to show you what to do but not actually do it," type thing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There was actually a "behind the scenes" episode of the show and the crew (of 4 if you count Bear) do most of the things he does. The crew also has their own food/camp.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This is why I find Survivorman more impressive. He films everything and carries all his own stuff.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The entire show is 90% him showing off that he films it himself and 10% him failing to survive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sorry if the multiple episodes and seasons aren't proof enough for your peanut brain.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

3 seasons hardly stands up to Man vs Wild, which has 6 and is still going. By the way, have Ben Stiller and Will Ferrel signed on with Les yet?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

3 seasons of surviving for a week at a time in harsh environments and filming everything yourself sounds pretty intense to me. Showing techniques of how to survive while in a controlled environment... not so much. It's just cool.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not like he's inches away from death, neither of them are most of the time. The show isn't really that intense anyway, mostly some scavenging and camping out in one place. It's not a bad thing, but usually not too extreme. Neither show is, really, except Bear occasionally does some stunt of some kind or another.

How do you not find surviving for a week by yourself in nature impressive? Especially in the jungle or the arctic or the desert?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't say it wasn't, I just implied that it isn't always entertaining.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The 10% failing part kinda made me think that you thought Bear > Les. And the part on Ben Stiller and Will Ferrel. But yes, Bear is more entertaining most of the time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, often he does screw stuff up. One example is some sort of water vine (in the bayou, maybe). Bear finds one and gets a decent amount of water out of it. Les tries it but ends up cutting himself and getting little water.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah... I saw that. But people screw up, it's all part of surviving. Meh. I still like them for different reasons. Bear's seal stunt was pretty great.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Didn't see that, sadly. Hope to soon, though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's one of the greatest things I've seen him do.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do you think the crew is also undressed half the time?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He has a camera crew that have camp supplies, which they share with him if necessary. The point of the show is to show other people how to survive, not to show that he can survive. Oh, and it's called Man vs. Wild.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I saw the behind the scenes episode (mentioned above somewhere) and he really does do everything you see him do and go through with it. The crew may be there with food for themselves, but they keep it as real as possible.
