+126 Real musicians who actually work hard and care about their music and what it is about deserve more fame than people who just rhyme words about drugs with words about sex and speak them in tempo, amirite?

To be fair, their fans are a Hell of a lot more dedicated than the more mainstream artists. For example, Jari Maenpaa, the mastermind of Wintersun, is one of the hardest working musicians in the world. The band has only put out one album so far, and their second album has been delayed 8 years so far. It's finally coming out in a few days, and there are still people excited about it. A lot of the fans are very anxious and upset, but many are still patient about it. How many bands are so good and have fans so loyal that they fans will patiently wait 8 years for another album out of them?

No. Fame is based on the majorities opinion. Maybe respect, or even money, but not fame. Simply because you don't agree with the way it swings and the type of music most people like isn't reason enough to "give fame" to artists. Just listen to your music and respect other people's opinions. For the record, I listen to a lot of things other than rap.

Exactly. They deserve as much attention from the masses as they attract.

Actually, I've always disagreed with this. Part of it is due to the fact that my goal in life is not to be recognized or leave something behind, and while I can understand the other side, I have a //really// hard time relating to it. But anyway, I think that if musicians who really care about their music get more attention, they wouldn't necessarily get that many more fans if their music doesn't sound good. I think that "good" music shouldn't be easily accessible; it should be easily accessible to those who care enough to find it. The fact of the matter is, I will not like a song if I don't like the sound of it, no matter how much work the artist put into it. I'll still respect them for it and everything, but that will not make a song more enjoyable. I guess my main point is that when it comes to fans, quality beats quantity.
