+252 PETA has some great ideas, they just seem to go a little overboard with it... amirite?

They have good ideas? That's news to me

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Those ideas they have consist of bombing places and euthanizing over 90% of the animals they take in and wasting money on stupid advertisements instead of using money to help animals

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It seems that the majority of things they do actually //hurt// animals, e.g. attempting to force vegetarianism on carnivorous animals, euthanizing strays "for the greater good," etc.

If while saying that PETA is trying to force vegetarianism on carnivorous animals you're refering to humans, you should google some articles on how the body is actually better suited for a veggy diet. An example is our teeth, compared to a shark or bear, how good are we at tearing apart animals? Personally, I don't support killing animals, but I see their logic in that these feral cats/ dogs will 1) most likely die of starvation or other extremely painful ways and 2)spawn more animals to follow in their path. It is very equitable to the human problem of children being born into bad environments, the most logical responce would be to seperate them from their birth home and raise them in a place where they would be better provide for yet doing so would cost tons of money. If humans don't do it for their fellow humans, PETA has to do drastic things if they want action for animals.

I wasn't referring to humans. Humans aren't even carnivores. I don't even eat meat, myself. I was referring to PETA literally taking a lion (I think it was a lion; it was a while ago that I heard about this) into captivity and depriving them of meat, hoping to cause an evolutionary shift or something.

It would be crazy if that actually worked, evolution happening in such a short amount of time. Right you are, humans are definitely not carnivores and that story of the lion sounds like torture.

To copy and paste a comment I made recently: "...The organization euthanizes over 90 percent of the dogs and cats relinquished to its headquarters in Norfolk, Va. In 2009, PETA euthanized 2,301 dogs and cats -- 97 percent of those brought in -- and adopted only eight, according to Virginia state figures. And the rate of these killings has been increasing. From 2004 to 2008, euthanasia at PETA increased by 10 percent...In the same town, the Norfolk City Pound euthanized 54.7 percent of its dogs and cats in 2009. In 2008, the most recent year on record, the Norfolk SPCA found homes for 86 percent of its dogs and cats and euthanized only 5.3 percent" PETA says they only euthanize animals when that is the most humane choice. I find it hard to believe that 97 percent of the animals brought into them were in such a bad condition that euthanasia was the way to go, when a shelter in the same town has an 86 percent adoption rate.

They also raged because Battlefield 3 had a scene where a rat was killed....

They go for attention and forget about the consequences. They don't even bother to do their research. They definitely have some good intentions, but are lacking brains, common sense, and moral values.

It works for them. They want attention and they got it. This thread proves it.
