Oh hey...it's not me...there are many ppl out there who still see homosexuality as wrong. There are ppl on here (who aren't speaking up - of course) who might think that way... The point is to have them see in a different way...altho if they are steeped in some orthodox religion...well...change of viewpoint might just never happen.
This is not about me...this is about how bewildered most ppl are in relation to societal change. And I understand that, and I want to change it from a place of ridicule to a place of understanding. But how to do that with the average Joe Beer. That is the question. Normally, as we ALL know...no-one likes change...especially change forced upon us...and certainly I can bet not many on here have heard the possibility of transgenders until recently... So to expect acceptance and understanding is a bit much. There are stages following the acceptance of anything new that may threaten to change our lives: like, with the advent of the Model T Ford: people laughed and ridiculed...it'll never last..they said..it's wrong..they said...people were meant to //walk.// Then finally...acceptance along with understanding...how it was possible emerged...and people, understanding benefits...were more content with this //new// idea.... Perhaps minorities...and speaking of minorities - some ppl //still// have difficulty with the black/white race thing.... But, again, perhaps the minorities about today...might have thought about hiring some PR in order to make people understand. Certainly, they are all here to stay...but there are steps that can be made in order to introduce relatively new situations to the masses with empathy and kindness.
I don't fully understand the plight of the transgender... It's possible since I've never met any in RL... There was once only straight people...now suddenly new genders are cropping up at every turn...can you really EXPECT people to generally accept everyone at any given turn? So next week...what...we might suddenly hear about a new genre...men or women who think they are really children...and then we have to go about understanding and support //that?// I say...give a people time to understand and accept without forcing it on us. That might just be the problem: any variance in society needs time and the right information to allow ppl to understand and accept...it is only a fool who accepts without understanding.
Lena asks her boyfriend Ole to come over Friday night and have dinner with her parents. This being a big event, Lena tells Ole that after dinner, she would like to go out and (vell ya know) for the first time. Well, Ole is ecstatic, but he has never (vell ya know) before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some protection The pharmacist helps Ole for about an hour. He teaches Ole everything there is to know about protection and (vell ya know). At the register, the pharmacist asks Ole how many he'd like to buy; a 3-pack, a 10-pack, or a family pack. Ole insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be very busy, it being his first time and all. That night, Ole shows up at the Lena's parent's house and meets her at the door. "Ole I'm so excited for you ta meet my parents, come on in." Ole goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where Lena's parents are seated. Ole quickly offers to say grace and bows his head. A minute passes and Ole is still deep in prayer with his head down. Three minutes of praying pass and still no movement from Ole. Finally, after five minutes of praying with his head down, Lena leans over and whispers to her Ole, "I had no idea you vere so religious." Ole turns and whispers back, "I had no idea your father vas a pharmacist."
Very common...more common than anyone might think... And the cops you think are upstanding citizens...are being tested daily. Along with being tested daily...there is also the "everyone is doing it" to deal with... Suddenly it doesn't seem too bad and getting caught? Negligible...
I know a couple of people who have been unfairly treated by city politics. It's probably even more vicious there since it can be guided by power-hungry ppl who would rather be in a bigger pond... A co-worker told me he had a job with Parks & Rec (in Toronto)...as a summer student. The kids got all their main jobs pretty much done early, but alas, there was a month left. So the group wandered about...took long breaks and worked at usual jobs but v e r y slowly... However when their bosses vans got caught cruising around (happened a lot)...the kids' supervisor had a new drill...one where they would be seen working while really doing nothing...ha...that happens to be a new requirement for some jobs. What a waste of money...was what we all thought...
