It's hence the name, not hince the name

I don't really agree with the argument that God cannot exist because of all the bad things in the world. Religious arguments aside, my philosophy is that the world in its current state pretty much belongs to the human race. By that I mean that I don't really believe in destiny or fate, I feel that we can control our own lives. Therefor I believe that if there is a God, He would leave us to determine what happens and would not interfere.

This probably sounds a bit odd as I claim to be Atheist but disagree with most arguments against religion, and I don't think I could really explain why that is. In a way, I don't really feel that it's possible to justify religious beliefs, theist or atheist, with any arguments or theories like that. At the same time, I don't think that these are things that should require justification, it's only about what we believe and, as I said before, the way we think.

I think that people tend to (subconsciously) feel some need to make themselves feel more sure and to strengthen their own beliefs by looking for any way to justify them. This is probably why atheists have come up with all the arguments about proof and cruelty in the world, what they say is the reason they don't believe in God is really just something they use to reassure themselves that their believes are correct.

Sorry it's been taking me a while to reply, I try to take time to think about things like this before saying anything.

At one point, for example, I seriously considered converting to Islam. I can understand a lot of Muslim philosophies, and some Islamic ways of thinking make sense to me, but I simply cannot convert to any theistic religion because of the simple fact that I am unable to believe in a God or Gods.

Sorry that got a little long, I sort of have a lot to say when it comes to religion. I’d love to hear your side of this.

I'm completely willing to talk about religious opinions in a civil discussion.

Why I don't believe in God is a bit of a difficult question to answer. A lot of people will say it's because there's no proof of God's existence, but at the same time, there's no proof against God's existence, so I think that factual evidence is irrelevant. Besides that, the whole point of religion is to have faith or not have faith, so facts shouldn't be required to form an opinion (that makes it kind of hard to debate since facts and evidence aren’t really all that involved). So the reason I don't believe in God isn't because I think it's illogical, but probably because the way of faith and religious ideology just isn't how I think. I grew up with very little knowledge of religion, I was an atheist even though I didn't know it at the time. When I actually talked to religion people for the first time and learned about their beliefs, I just didn't have the same mindset by that time. I’ve contemplated whether or not my way of thinking is “correct”, and I’ve considered the possibility of their being a deity or God watching our lives on Earth before, but subconsciously I can never seem to be able to believe in such things.
