I was not sure where to post this - so I came here. I have a theory, it may sound stupid, so think of me as you will, and tell me what you think. In school in the past, I have been taught about 'wants' and 'needs'. Wants being things like television and cake, things we do not require to live. Needs are what we require to live, being healthy food and money. But, I am starting to believe that there is no such true thing as a need! I will explain why... What we call needs, are called needs because we need them to live. If we need something, because we need it to live, surely that must mean that we need to live... That's where I disagree! Who says that we necessarily 'need' to live? There is no way of really proving that you truly need to live. So, if there is no true need for living, then there is no need for the things we say we need to live, which can then no longer be considered 'needs'. Really, the way I see it, a need is just a greatly exaggerated want (something we want very badly). It isn't that big a deal, just that what I was once taught in school could be completely wrong. What do you think? Is a so called 'need' really all that different from a want?

In attempting to rid Gotham city of violence and corruption, Batman has created a society that depends on vigilante justice as the rule of law. No one has faith in the police force or their elected officials. This will undoubtedly lead to society where people feel they must take the law into their own hands and the lines between good and evil will become distorted. Ironically, in his efforts to save the people of Gotham, Batman has probably doomed them all, amirite?
