Because I like Ron Paul and anyone who is running against Bachman. I'm still not really sure about the other Republicans though. I'll know a lot more when they start campaigning seriously in 2012. I don't really like either major party so figuring out who to vote for is always a problem.

Theres tons of independent people! The point of voting is to vote for who you think is best, not who has a good chance of winning...

Yeah the point is these big corporations are sending all the jobs overseas, so there are not enough jobs to go around. They're laying off thousands of workers every year and giving themselves million dollar pay rises and bonus. There are more than 4 people unemployed for every 1 position available, so it's really not as easy as "just get a job". And not to mention that the minimum wage hasn't gone up in over 10 years not even to adjust to inflation rates, making it even harder for a poor person to be able to live, the divide of rich and poor is growing and the middle class is shrinking.

But do they really think that the government can do anything about this? Not to mention, if they do raise minimum wage (which is one of the few things government can actually do) less people will be hired therefore a few will benefit from a higher wage, but more will suffer from unemployment. Not really worth it.

I'm doing the same thing. I might even register as a Republican so I can vote for Paul in the primary. Don't worry though, if Paul doesn't win the primary I'll most likely vote for Obama in the real election.

Obama seems like quite the opposite to Ron Paul in my opinion... Why would you vote for Obama and not Ron paul (he'll probably run independently)?

Its a combined effect and the results do show. If there's a couple thousand or even a million people or something that think that their votes dont matter, then maybe each of their individual's didn't but it certainly had an impact. Don't be one of those people. An obvious example is that seniors always vote in surprisingly high numbers while youth who think their votes don't matter vote in very low numbers. As a result, our government is spending TRILLIONS on Medicare, Medicaid, social security, etc. which our generation gets to pay for once they're gone. You may think a single vote does not matter, but it's truly a ripple effect which has astonishing effects.

But if everybody thinks like that it makes a HUGE difference. People ages 18-25 are voting in record low numbers for several reasons, including thinking their votes don't matter.

I actually think not voting is more of a form of gambling. If you don't vote, youre leaving the fate of the country completely up to chance in the hands of idiots you don't know. If you vote, at least you have an influence.

But you're post could be more open than that... Anybody who believes that their God was the right one might feel sad because they believed that person would be going to hell or because they think the person thinks their God didn't care about them.

Actually, you don't necessarily have to capitalize it. In British English they do not capitalize, in American they do. It can go either way. I rest my case about looking like a pedantic jerk (who is, in this case, wrong).

Well, if you are in the middle of a job interview and you start speaking with horrible grammar, then they're probably not going to employ you.

Sure. But it was obviously an error in typing. Everybody knows the a/an rule in English - you don't learn it in school and you don't look smart by correcting it; you look like a pedantic jerk. Plus, that mistake is significantly less likely to be made while speaking.

Grammar nazis are not trying to be helpful; they're typically just pedantic jerks. Most people can be understood without their annoying corrections.

Actually, they do. Not to mention, if you don't get good grades, you're probably gonna suck in your desired field and potentially get fired. And if you go to grad school, you'll definitely want to get good grades to get into that (not to mention how would you feel is your doctor or engineer building a bride was an C student??)

Race shouldnt have an influence at all. People should vote for simply who they think is the best candidate whether it's an old white guy or a young black man. It shouldnr matter either way.
