And I want you to look at the flag, our rainbow flag, and I want you to look at it with pride in your heart, because we too have a dream. And what is our dream? Ours is more than an American dream. It's a universal dream. Because in South Africa, we're black and white, and in Northern Ireland, we're Protestant and Catholic, and in Israel we're Jew and Muslim. And our mission is to reach out and teach people to love, and not to hate.

Yeah, because Christians never behave immorally and have never caused anyone harm in the history of their existence. And frankly, I respect someone more who behaves morally without the threat of eternal damnation in hell looming over their head.

Yeah, I agree with you in that Christians aren't perfect. We do act morally for a different reason than just our instincts. Not necessarily because we've been threatened by hell. Rather because we love our creator and trust him. So if we trust him, why wouldn't we obey him? Since we believe he knows what's best for us.

Believing in God doesn't get you to heaven. Even Satan believes in God. Being a Christian is about loving and trusting God and walking as Jesus did. Not about being afraid of Hell

It did. I just don't think treating people decently with respect and compassion despite your feelings toward them makes you two faced, I think doing the opposite (being mean to people you don't like) makes you immature, and that not venting any frustrations about anyone and still being nice is unhealthy- basically that it's ok to not like people, to talk about your frustrations, and to still try to act kindly to them like you would for anyone else. I agree we should try to know someone before judging them based off what people have said, but sometimes the name is necessary to truly get across the nature of the situation. Ex, my friend E knows a girl named A who always makes harsh comments about her appearance and one day said one of these comments on an important day, except the comment wasn't very harsh, and had it been said by anyone else it wouldn't have gotten to E so much, but the fact is was A who said it made it upsetting just because of the nature of some of the comments they made in the past. E could just refer to A as "that one girl who is always mean" but honestly I just don't see the point in trying to protect people's reputations from things they actually did.

if someone obviously wrongs you, and both of you know it, it's okay for you to say "i forgive you" even if he/she is too proud to apologize
but in situations where it's not clear who's right, or you only know your side of the story, i think it's pretty arrogant to automatically assume that your view of the situation is correct or you're the only person who's been wronged

If you feel that you have been wronged, then forgiving them is not arrogant. If you also wronged them, it's their choice whether or not to forgive you.

God doesn't damn anyone to hell. People who go to hell choose hell. God doesn't want anyone to go to hell, He wants us to go to heaven. But He gave us free will, so we choose heaven or hell.

I'm not saying anything of the sort. Most of the 'rules' are generally accepted rules of society. It's not like I really have to go out of my way on a daily basis. I pray, I go to church, I try to be a good person. I don't see how that is subjecting myself to a lifetime of stringent rule-following. If you don't want to believe in God, then don't. But don't bash my lifestyle when you don't know my lifestyle at all. I can accept your beliefs, the least you can do is be respectful of mine.

Hey guess what OP, I've read that before. We covered it in a college class. It's all BS.

A couple of problems with it :

It doesn't take into account any amount of testing/experiments done on this issue. Identical resumes are sent to employers, one male one female, guess who gets the call back the majority of the time? Just coincidence, is it? (Similar testing is done with white sounding names versus more ethnic names with similar results, but that's a bit off subject.)

"Total hours paid" - They're suggesting that the reason women appear to be paid less is because men just work longer hours so when you average it out it just seems that women are paid less. What they leave out is that they included part time workers in that "study." Of course they are working less, those people were specifically part time. And often times employers will fill part time positions with females while males are offered more substantial work. But even with similar hours, experience, education, etc women are still underpaid.

OK, experience. Time and time again women are hired to do menial jobs, never gaining work experience that was offered to their male counterparts, to their disadv...

How can they ever expect to move forward if they can't gain the work experience that they need?

Women are still assumed to be the caretaker. Women are constantly asked about their home responsibilities (children) while mostly men are not. Does she have to take them to school? Who will pick them up? What if they get sick, how much time off will she need? Oh, I can see she's a risky hire! While with men it's assumed that he has a dutiful wife to take on all of those responsibilities. It's almost never assumed he would perform such womanly duties. I guess there are no such thing as single fathers.

Look kid, it doesn't take a genius to see that women continue to get the short end of the stick, or why. What I don't understand is why people insist on denying it. It's difficult enough being a woman trying to make a career, now try throwing ethnicity into the mix. Or poverty. Kid, the world is full of prejudice and discrimination. Open your eyes.

I disagree with Bush being up there. Regardless of whether you think he was a good president or not, the fact of the matter is you have to be intelligent to get there in the first place.

I'm starting to dislike Adele a bit. I love her music and I think she's very talented, but she's said very anti-female comments in the past. Lots of internalized misogyny. I'll still sing along to Set Fire to The Rain, but my respect for her has gone down a bit.

Read this blog. I want you to slowly read through it. Then, consider your words.
To put it frankly, you are part of this problem. And no, all women are not like that.

http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/internalized+misogyny

Women are told from the day they are born, that they are nothing less than a disease. To be ashamed of their gender, their femininity, and to be like men. Womanhood is a plague that must be fought against, to become more like the cure - males. We tell women to be like males, to thank themselves for not being like other women. This internalized misogyny and fight for patriarchal approval has turned women to view each other with jealousy, hatred, and ill feeling. Our value is defined by what men think of us.
Misogyny is misogyny is misogyny.
You are part of this problem, this rampant misogyny that our society is infected with. You, Adele, and all the other women that claim, "All women are like that."
And by the way, you are not excluded from this. To the woman down the road, you are 'like that'. To some random female on the internet, you are also 'like that'. Misogyny has no exceptions. Just because you are not like that does not make this better, it makes it worse.

Nobody "supports abortion". They simply believe it is the right of the woman to choose; that's why it's called "pro-choice", not "pro-abortion."

Here's my personal belief: since there's not really a concrete answer as to when/if an embreyo becomes a sentient being, the moral thing to do is to air on the side of giving women the choice.
After all, it's certainly immoral to force a woman who was raped to have a baby against her will.

Abortion causes no pain to the aborted baby. Realistically, it isn't actually killing, it is the prevention of birth. Besides, this world is overpopulated as it is.

Also, the majority of people that consider abortion would provide a poor home for their children, and they simply recognize that fact. Married adults with a steady income will rarely visit abortion clinics.

Anyways, my thought is that if you aren't ready for a child you choose use birth control pills or condoms to lessen the likeliness of pregnancy. But if those don't work, it is your decision whether you should bring a child into this world.
