Are any of the people who commented actually casting directors? Because if not, the question was not for you.

Sorry is not a regret. Sorry is a mistake. Regrets are things that you look back on and wish you didn't do. If you made a bad choice with the best you had you shouldn't regret it, you should be sorry. If you made a bad decision because you were too lazy or wanted to be popular, that's a regret.

Only if you feel regret about that decision, of course.

Well, no, just winning two out of two possible medals doesn't put an athlete on par with Phelps. Just because one athlete wins 100% of the possible medals in his/her sport and the other wins 30% (just a guess) doesn't mean the first one is automatically as good or better. If the tennis player won both over multiple Olympic games (like Phelps), maybe the argument could be made.

Secondly, I think we should also consider how demanding it is for a swimmer to qualify for the final in each event and give maximum effort to win eight races like Phelps did in '08. Yes, tennis players also have to get through several rounds to reach the finals, but they don't have to also play a gold medal match every night.

Basically, I'd say you're right that tennis players don't get a chance to win tons of events, but that doesn't mean you can disregard the multiple events swimmers are allowed to do. And for the record, I'm not totally convinced Phelps is the best Olympian of all time, I just don't think this is the best argument against that notion.

I think the difference here is that cars were created for the purpose of making transportation more efficient; guns were created for the purpose of ending life. Deaths from cars are almost always accidents whereas guns deaths are probably not. I'm not saying every gun owner is going to kill people (or even animals) but I just think it's a pretty crucial difference.

When the first gun was created, it was used in wars, in order to kill people and end lives. As war technology grew, newer and bigger guns were created in order to kill more people and end more lives.

I don't think it's always the case that people get mad just because they don't agree, in fact I'd be willing to bet most of the time it's not the case at all. A lot of people just have really stupid opinions, and I think that's the reason people usually get mad. They just happen to perceive the other's opinion as stupid and it frustrates them.

When i said, "and a stupid one at that." That was the joke. That I was calling you out saying that you should not tell other people that their beliefs and opinions are stupid when I did just that. Obviously you missed that.

I don't think today's National Defense Authorization Act, Patriot Act, and police brutality are an improvement. Not to mention some states presenting laws to ban the teaching of critical thinking in schools.

Agreed^. And to all of you who think that times now are so much worse than they were before, and are still complaining about how this post is wrong, get off your computer and try and change those problems. I'm not saying go become the president of our country and create world peace, but every little step counts towards progress.
