....how many times shall I explain that "high school dropouts" was merely a specific example of people who are generally less intelligent? At least once more, I suppose.

really, what this whole argument comes down to is your definition of "human." Is my finger a human? It has the same number of cells and the same ability to think as an embryo in its early stages. If I cut off my finger, am I murdering a human life?

I completely agree that it comes down to the definition of what is human. But your finger doesn't have the DNA to become a new adult. Embryo's have unique DNA; your finger has the same DNA as any other part of your body

because making abortion illegal will stop abortions. In case no one's learned from history, you can't make something that is legal illegal. When the 18th amendment was passed, drinking just got worse and was usually in a non-controlled environment.

The same would go with abortion. It would still occur, just in a non-controlled environment. At least with it being legal, it can be performed by a doctor who knows what they're doing instead of a teenager who's just desperate to get rid of their baby. I know a girl who had her boyfriend jump on her stomach for 2 hours to make sure the baby was dead because her mom wouldn't let her get an abortion. People will do potentially fatal things to themselves just to get rid of a baby.

If the baby is human, then abortion is murder. Should we be worried about protecting murderer's?

The issue is not necessarily about the damage to the user from doing the drugs...it is more about the possible damage the user will do to others or him/herself while not in the "correct" state of mind.

Now, I think it's debatable whether each specific drug will cause these damages, but the possible damage for each one should be taken into consideration before legalization.

If you believe God used science, you believe in intelligent design, a belief that I'm not a part of but completely respect.

Being a high school dropout does not automatically link to unintelligence, just as being well educated doesn't automatically involve wisdom.

Popular vote isn't always used to determine the next president. The electoral college does.
2000 Presidential Election, anyone?

That's different, because popular vote BY STATE still determines it. All electoral votes go to whoever won the popular vote in each state. So technically, all members of the same state have the exact same say - it varies tiny amounts from state to state, but generally the amount of people per electoral vote is the same.

The 2000 election was a fluke because Gore won the states he won by MORE than Bush won his states. For example, Gore could win by 100,000 votes in one state, and then Bush wins by 20,000 votes each in two states. Bush may have more electoral votes, but Gore technically has more popular votes. Again, though - popular vote BY STATE determines the president.

Popular vote has no ties whatsoever to who wins the presidency.

Uhh.....what country?
The United States it does...popular vote by state determines which candidate all electoral votes for that state go to. So technically, a wise man and a highschool drop out in the same STATE have just as much say, it would theoretically vary a little from state-to-state depending on how many citizens were in the state.

This post is disheartening. Everyone has an opinion and has just as much a right to voice it as anybody else. And just because someone dropped out of highschool doesn't mean they're stupid, and just because someone is educated doesn't mean they make better decisions about the country than poorly educated people.

I think this post is getting taken a little out of context...when i said "well educated and wise" and "high school dropouts", i was trying to convey people that do make well reasoned choices about everything (including politics) vs. people who make consistently bad choices about life (including politics). Basically, I'm saying it's frustrating because even when we have a good candidate, there's a good chance they won't win because so many people don't spend the time researching to make a well-reasoned vote.

Whether or not evolution was the cause of ALL speciation really has nothing to do with biology. It's simpy history. ANCIENT, ANCIENT history, but history nonetheless. Biology can never teach us that evolution occurred, only that it can.
