Smoking, drinking, premarital ****, and homosexualIty are all wrong, as is the death penalty and thank you cards, those two mainly because they're pointless. Also, people in general are too strict and judgmental-and far too self absorbed. And the most controversial part of these opinions is that I don't believe they're opinions, they're fact.

Alright, here are mine, do with them what you will:

1) Not all opinions are created equal. Just because something is an opinion, doesn't mean that it is valid or that it is respectable. Good segue:
2) Respect is something earned, not automatically warranted.
3) There should be no conscription and no draft. If there is to be, then women should be conscripted along with men. That is true equality.
4) Feminism is a good thing. But it's the name that confuses people. Most feminists are for equality across the board. But see #3
5) Calling suicide "selfish" is pointless because you only want them to stick around for your own selfish reasons
6) We are an over-medicated society and too quick to prescribe psychoactive drugs. Segue into:
7) Some diagnoses of ADHD are simply characterizations of normal behavior, especially for young boys. The school system in general labels normal young male behavior as "ADHD" and medicates them.
8) Marijuana should be legal, so should many other drugs.
9) Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion.
10) Homosexuality is not a choice, but it wouldn't be less valid if it were.

Holy crap could you imagine the shit storm JK Rowling would get from her fans if DH ended like "11 year-old Harry awoke in the cupboard under the stairs to Aunt Petunia screaming 'Harry! The bacon is burning!' He walked into the kitchen and said, 'You won't believe the dream I had! I was a wizard and I knew magic!' Uncle Vernon gave him a stern look and yelled "THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS MAGIC, BOY! NOW GET ME MY BACON!' All was not well."

No. I'm ** disappointed with my life. I got epilepsy and anxiety at age 14. 3 years later, I still feel awful. I always feel awkward as ** around people. All my friends ditched me. I'm alone in this world and I don't see any point in life. I will never be happy.

I don't like Glee because the songs sound far too edited.
I mean, it is far too obvious that they play studio recordings, and the actors mime on screen.

I think they all have talent, and if they pursued vocal careers, or sang live on the show, then I would be a fan.

Thank God someone posted this. "Friendzoning" is just misogynistic BS. The belief that treating a woman with basic kindness (hint: you should do this to everyone anyway) somehow means you "deserve" a relationship; that she "owes" you. The belief that any relationship other than a romantic/sexual is a failure, because why else would you bother being nice to a woman? It's just an overhyped sense of entitlement. Women do not owe you ****/relationships no matter how nice you are to them.

Its not about Christian values. It's about human morals. It's no ones right to kill.

Abortion causes no pain to the aborted baby. Realistically, it isn't actually killing, it is the prevention of birth. Besides, this world is overpopulated as it is.

Also, the majority of people that consider abortion would provide a poor home for their children, and they simply recognize that fact. Married adults with a steady income will rarely visit abortion clinics.

Anyways, my thought is that if you aren't ready for a child you choose use birth control pills or condoms to lessen the likeliness of pregnancy. But if those don't work, it is your decision whether you should bring a child into this world.

You want to discover who you are? Here's a tip: read a book. Find a hobby. Get a job. Do some volunteer work. Join a debate club. As I mature I find that life's less about the sappy Disney story of finding yourself. It's about building yourself. It's about deciding how you wish to present yourself as a decent and mature person. And if you think, even for a second, that your outward appearance holds more for your potential than actually developing character, then I absolutely don't think you're ready to make these decisions. It can take years, lifetimes to build a reputation; make sure it's one you'll be proud of.

It's funny, I'm listening to them literally RIGHT NOW, but if I walked past them on the street or saw their picture that didn't state specifically who it was a picture OF - as was the case here before I came here to the comments - I wouldn't be able to tell you who they are or what they look like. Hell, I don't even know their individual names... I DO know the name of the band, though, but then, who doesn't these days? I'm not sure if I should be proud of myself or not for not really knowing much about them...

I don't think it's so much that intelligent people 'see the evil in the world' and simply can't get beyond that. I think it's more that they see the evil in themselves, and that they strive so hard to understand their world and their lives and themselves that they struggle to feel contentment with what they already know. They are intelligent, and so of course they are going to seek meaning and discovery in life. These pursuits, however, are so blatenty daunting - and likely impossible - that the intelligent person is unhappy.
