Blockades are illegal under international law, now if Israel wants to be taken seriously they should not continue to break international law. A law is a law is a law.
And again I don't wish to continue this conversation so goodnight

Suicide bombing civilians is illegal as well, whether on a bus, in the restaurant, or the street. You can't cite one international law while breaking three others. (Not you specifically, general "you.")

I don't either want to debate. I stumbled onto this post though, and felt compelled to comment. I usually try to ignore these types of posts, if I can. Good night.

You're forgetting about the West Bank that the Israeli government has settlements illegally in the West Bank.
What the Palestinians want is a chance at life because they have an illegal blockade placed on them.

Not to mention that the state of Israel has discriminatory laws in place for the Arab-Israelis.
What you just said is the typical propaganda I hear from Israelis.

Every country has their issues. But as far as discrimination goes, you're forgetting about the discrimination those who were expelled from Arab / Muslim countries faced. They lost their land, homes, and businesses. Israel has Arabs in government. I can't say the same for the open-mindedness of Israel's neighbors.

Re: the blockade, StealthApple covered that. There'd be no need for blockades if there were no attacks and suicide bombers. It has cut down on the amount of those attacks. How that can be demonized as illegal is beyond me.

Personality has a definite impact on attraction. That said, people say this, but I have yet to see someone date someone who is really ugly just because of their personality. Personality is important, but so is physical attraction.

I think "the chicken is ready to eat" is a famous ambiguous sentence

it's the example that taught me about ambiguity

so your interpretation was right but so is the alternative one
but to know exactly what the person meant,
we'd have to asked the writer

so with this post
"every opinion should not matter"
every opinion can mean that all opinions should not matter
or it can mean that not every single opinion has to matter

it depends on how the reader perceives the words
I think it may have to do with connotations too

In response to “I think "the chicken is ready to eat"...

The difference is that with your example, with the sentence written the way it is, it's correct, but also ambiguous. One phrase can have multiple meanings, depending on the interpretation.

The chicken is ready to eat. =

The chicken is ready to eat [its food]
(or)
The chicken is ready [for you] to eat.

But with the OP, it's not really an ambiguous sentence. I can see how people might *interpret* it ambiguously, but the language itself is not. People might see:

Every [single] opinion should not matter
(or)
[Not] Every opinion should not matter.

But with this instance, you're adding words to change the meaning, whereas with the chicken sentence, you're not adding words...you're interpreting a correct sentence in two ways, which would change the *implied* wording.

The word "every," on its own, is defined as "constituting each and all members of a group without exception." Therefore, in this sentence, since only the word "every" is used, it is saying that "every single opinion should not matter."

Which is interesting too, since by definition it would render the opinion that opinions shouldn't matter, irrelevant, due to it being an opinion. Opinionception. (maniac)

That's like...me saying to someone, "oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it too," and them saying, "you can't compare me wanting these things to cake, you can't eat these things like you can eat cake."

That apple didn't fall far. It fell directly below the tree, then because of other forces it was moved to another area.

Why do you blame the parents? Sure, loud children on the plane are annoying, but not every child is the type to sit quietly and color, or behave. Provided that the parent is actually trying to take care of the kid, sometimes it's beyond their control. If being on the plane is so uncomfortable and tough for adults, imagine how it is for a child. I feel bad for the parent, with everyone giving them dirty looks.

My friends and I once ordered from a Chinese restaurant that didn't send us fortune cookies. We haven't ordered from there since.

Maybe they by mistake gave your cookies to someone else, and now a stranger is walking around with your good fortune, lucky numbers, and Chinese word of the day!

I agree with you for the most part, but that doesn't mean that it's right or that everyone agrees. Which is shown because many of the most popular new artists use auto-tune frequently.

If it wasn't over-used, I wouldn't mind it sometimes. I get people using it for a certain audio style. But at some point it's just too much, and they use it to make people who can't sing be able to put out a "song."
