I hate when people say things like, "real women have curves." I'm naturally skinny; I couldn't get fat if I wanted to. Does that mean I'm Nita real woman? And I hate when people try to blame my body type for eating disorders. It makes me really sad that people starve themselves, but it is in no way whatsoever my fault.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. "REAL women have curves!" "HEALTHY is being a size 8 and proud!" are some of the stupid things people have told me. What they don't realize is that my body type is such (lean + tall+ athletic) that for quite a while I was dangerously underweight (85 lbs) for my age and height and the amount of exercise I did. I started getting heart palpitations and actually had to work to GAIN weight to be healthy. And I'm hoping to be a model, but people go on about how models have the bodies of 12-year-old boys, and that they're walking clothes hangers, etc. Overweight people need to stop slamming naturally thin people for being skinny, it's not our fault, just as its not our fault that they sit on the couch and eat Ben&Jerry's all day. It's just a form of bullying.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just passionate about this. :/

Me too. Honestly, religion as a whole is a really primitive thing and if humans as a species in general want to continue onward, they're going to have to leave dogma behind. Loving God spiritually isn't religion. Spirituality is not dangerous at all. It is the combination of spirituality, culture, and worldview that makes religion so dangerous and primitive. This is the only home we have as a species and I want peace. I don't care whether you like Jesus, Mohammed, Krishna, Buddha or Moses more, let's just get over it and find peace already, it's not worth it.

It goes both ways. I'm vegetarian, and I've had people ask me why I am one (of course I have no problem telling them) but then they don't quite buy my reason and so they go on to tell me why I should eat meat. I feel like saying, don't you think I weighed up all my reasons to give up meat long ago? I've been a vegetarian for 5 years, I'm pretty sure I've had some time to think about it - you don't need to convince me otherwise.

End rant.

Same, I'm a vegetarian, and I have never preached to a non-vegetarian (only told them the reasons if they've asked), but most of the time when I mention that I am to someone I get a lecture on why I should eat meat or told I'm an idiot. I'm more than aware how to balance my diet without meat in it and it's my choice, it's extremely annoying being judged.

Of course women want to be treated like women.

The problem comes from the fact that the male standard is still considered to be better.

Equality means that women will be treated like women and that their standards will be equal to the standards of men. Different, but equal.

Actually, I think it's more like 'be treated like an individual and be paid properly and fairly for the amount of work they do'.

But what would I know?

Haha! Right now? Your living in the kitchen and being degraded now? Or try you have 5 advertisements an hour just to say how independent and strong women are and how they can't be treated poorly. Or the fact that now a days 73 % of women or being paid on par with men regardless of gender but as much as 82% still think men should pay for first dates, 14% think that men should pay for everything in the relationship without question. Society is getting pretty damn optimal for women lately. I think you meant to say 60 years ago

Jesus tells us to love thy neighbour as thyself. To treat others the way you would want to be treated.
Straight people want to have the right to marry whoever they want, and to join the army, and to avoid discrimination. Therefore, according to the son of God, and therefore the Christian faith, gay people should have all those rights.

Well, our country WAS founded by Christians, and America is still the most religious of the developed western countries. I think if the pledge and seal had been created just now, it would be an issue, but these things are far in the past and we must forgive the men for being a product of their times where virtually every person believed in God. Atheism did not have significant numbers until more recently. People who are offended need to learn to ignore it and move on. If you don't think this God fellow exists, then why should you care anyways?

DEISTS! FOUNDED BY DEISTS! Holy goddamn monkey balls, why is this so hard for people to grasp? Most of the founding fathers liked the Bible morally speaking, but they didn't believe it as factual accounts of events. They also believed that God created the universe, then left it alone to run itself. No, I will not ignore it and move on. The government is forcing religion on me, and I won't have it. They portray the United States as a Christian nation, and it isn't. I don't want to live in a Christian nation or a nation that appears to be crazy for Jesus. Your logic is backwards, I care precisely because I don't think God exists. I wouldn't care if I DID think He existed.

I don't believe in god, and I just say it.
Just because I say some words doesn't mean I believe or don't believe anything.
If someone who doesn't believe in god is offended by it, then just...wow. Do they start screaming when they drive by a church? It's really not all that important.

It goes against separation of church and state, though. Also it's not fair for people who don't believe in god. A national pledge should include everyone, and the best way to do that would be by having no references to god or religion.

It's not just about being "diverse" Saint Nick might be a real man, but Santa Claus is an imaginary character, he can be blue, red, purple, it doesn't really matter... HE'S NOT A REAL PERSON. He can be an avatar for **** sake and it wouldn't matter. The point is what he represents and if mole men dressed up as Santa can make kids happy, then why are people too old to believe in Santa arguing about it?

It's not actually the same burden. Imagine Household A that makes 100 grand a year. They spend 5000 a year on groceries (that's low to average). That's 5% of their paycheck. Now imagine household B that makes 20 grand a year, and they spend the same amount on groceries. That's 25% of their paycheck. Now imagine that the price goes up on groceries by 9%, so they now cost 5450, a .45% increase for Household A, but a 3.25% increase for Household B, who probably is struggling to make ends meet as it is. How on earth is this fair? It's a lot harder to bear.

Well, if God exists then He's the one who can know what's right and wrong in all situations, it would be stupid to think you know better yourself. And ironically, if I were to start living by this post it would be because you told me to. So according to this post I should continue living by faith, no matter what I'm told, if I feel that it's right.

"Well, if God exists then He's the one who can know what's right and wrong in all situations, it would be stupid to think you know better yourself."

So, what if God did exist and we knew, without any uncertainty, that he viewed homosexuality as wrong? I, for one, would not change my support of gay rights, no matter what He viewed as right or wrong.

It's the 21st century and people still believe that the entire universe was created by itself, by accident. The sun's position is so perfect that if it were a bit closer to the earth we would burn; a bit farther, we would freeze. If atoms were slightly different, the world would implode on itself. But in the 21st century, people still believe that all of these completely perfect attributes came by complete luck.

Call me crazy, but I'm going to believe in God.
