If one is bipolar but can control both sides (mania/depression) to perfection, is that one truly bipolar?

Depression is most likely caused by the mania, as well as the "voices" that never shut up, in some cases, you can tune them out, or ignore them, if you are able, or just learn to live with them, without killing yourself, which probably isn't very fun way to go, but you must first conquer your depression, does not mean you are happy, it means you can be happily depressed, sort of like the song goes, I'm only happy when it rains..., learn to deal with the voices do not obey the voices, because they are the demons trying to drive you crazy, that's their job, not to help you, but to destroy you, what they say can either be truth, or lie, you'll have to determine which is which, with no guarantee of ever finding out the truth, so that can be defined as perception, what gov. people called insight, empathy, whatever... I do not believe in telepathy, just demons that tell you thinks, that may or may not be true! I won't go further, but have answered this much for you!

If you could experience a mental illness for 24 hours, would you want to?

Persumably if I was in a safe secure location with experienced individauls at my own age and clinical staff I would like to say cyclothymia, I have many friends whom have a wide variety of classifications of BD and I wish I could say to them "thanks for being there for me, for the advice, for staying by my side even in the worst parts and holding true during the best I love you all"

Does psychiatry have a financial interest in expanding the definition of mental illness?

Both the pharmaceutical and psychiatric institutions have a profound interest in make for all manner of recourse pharmaco-therpahy the standard norm one size fit all method without the inclusion of other external theraphies. In ages gone pass it was the duty of an apothecary to make ready remedies to prevent, treat, cure ails and afflictions but today we introduce individuals whom are ready to cast off there humanity for the sake of a free bill. In the infancy of psychology and it is in itself now entering a point of maybe prepubescent adolescence where some strives have been made in the regards of neuro-science to explore the uncharted regions of synaptic connections we have at present much to learn and much stiller to learn. Unfortunately by casting off our humanity has only created great errors in the stave of science and the arts as a whole preventing us from truly reaching a level of understanding acceptable enough to create ample progress. Ideally what should be done is create a base of generality and explore in best regards to the pursuit of how all the data coincides or creates fallancies which can recorded but ruled out as theoretical happen stance. As is the state of the mind information is as much by perception as the very reality it is subjected to therefore by which we cannot see maybe seen by another and so on and so forth. By first establishing a base of generality we can understand the basic concept but must persue it as a split from how the patient and the doctor perceive it, from there introduce minimal theraphies which allow the patient the ability to explain to the best of his/her own perspective what happens and have it intepretted back to him (little more concept than teaching a child who already did something as what it is), run on the clinical standards of factual improvement or deterioation , and persue the cause again.

Can "mental illness" sometimes be a part of what a person is rather than illness?

Unfortunately so with humanities constant need to constrain things into a categorical perspective we tend to lose sight of our own individuality as a whole while many points of perception manifest from the semi conscious state of our own mind being unique and therefore completely different it has become deemed necessary to label and profile anyone without taking into regard to how we handle the world as a whole. At the end of the day when the consensus is taken it will most likely run on the principle of how many people exhibit classification a over classification b and so on and so forth. The closest we have to a goal is the constant strive for neuro-diversity and neuro-acceptance/tolerance which makes this seemingly dystopic judgemental reality a bit easier to handle with the bitter chaser of cold hard facts that date back to in my view to Hippocrates himself.

I've heard that subliminal information is embedded (low light) in television programs. Does anyone know how this could be decoded?

To decode I would recommend getting a copy of the video, converting it into a digital format , running it against a series of visual tests (avidemux, free and opern source video manipulater) hue, saturation, color inversion, whatever test you think is valid , it is also neccesary to perform proper study and a few countermeasures against subliminal leak should be taken (after all the information is hidden for a reason coming in contact with it improperly is allot like coming into a hazardous material improperly) as to decoding it, it may be useful to differentiate some applicable knowledge from misinformation as misinformation is a powerful tool that can essentially throw you off of a trail. It's not really quite a science as it is an art never the less it is highly recommended that you proceed with caution

Everyone has the right to persue happiness regardless of there perceptual difference (i know that people call it an illness or disorder but I don't feel right labeling my friends and family) it's a basic human right that everyone deserves.

If one is bipolar but can control both sides (mania/depression) to perfection, is that one truly bipolar?

As with any psychological difference of perception (i refuse to use the word illness or disorder) when a person is first "diagnosed" with bipolar disorder they go through the trails of grief as anyone would and most of the time it is often prolonged to an indeterminate amount of time (it depends on the person really) with time comes acceptance in the end no matter how shaky it might be and often times with experience comes coping. What you are referring to it the ability to cope with the external manifestation of the base symptomolgy the part that everyone can see but inside is where the truth is the constant tug of war between the wreaking havoc of emotions and perceptions of themselves and others. As there is no scale of perfection to base oneself off of others and even ourselves cannot truly say we are or are not truly bipolar. An interesting point maybe that you may be referring to cyclothymia a rapid cycling perception that gives off the illusion of complete control under favorable cirucmstances as one could go on several years being asymptomatic until a high stress trigger invokes an attack which leads to the manifestation of all the typical symptoms that we can visual see as ques of illness (again i do not quite care for the word) . To say for even a moment that the way one handles or copes with the stress makes them truly or not truly bipolar I consider quite hurtful to not only to the way they view themselves but how others of some of the groups see themselves.

What is the difference between "To be" and "To exist"?

To exist is in a context of being but yet to be unrealized, to be is to finally realize ones own existance as unique and independent from others. The bane of this is societal influence to conform to the standards of imposed normality when really there is none decided by others whom would rather regard complancy over the individual growth of the individual or even individuals with the same likeness or goals in mind.
