Our Court system shows complete hypocrisy when it comes to the unborn child. A doctor can legally abort a fetus and it is not called murder. Ariel Castro, the Cleveland kidnapper, is being charged with 5 "aggravated murders" of unborn fetuses for punching Michele Knight's stomach and forcing miscarriages. In both instances, an unborn fetus is being killed. Amirite?

I can see what you are saying, but Ariel still violated her right to her body. A woman can legally get an abortion in the same way that a person can legally dispose of their own property. A person can not abort someone's baby without their consent in the same way that you can not steal someone else's property.
I can break my stuff all I want, but someone else would get punished for breaking my stuff. Does that mean the value of my stuff has changed? No, it's just okay for ME to make the choice, not the other person.

It's really hard to defend the fact that 95% of black people in the US are going to vote for Obama this year. Think about it, if 95% of white people voted for Romney, we'd have riots, amirite?

About the same percentage of black people have been voting Democrat for the past couple elections. Maybe it's not because of skin color. Maybe it's because, *gasp*, Democrats clearly have their interests at heart.

It's completely obnoxious when people go to a concert and then sit and text the entire time, completely disregarding the band, amirite?
16 Comments +78 / 85%
I don't think that's the point here. I went to a Muse concert last night and the place was completely filled. Every section was on their feet -- except for mine, because everyone was texting and ignoring the band. I just don't see the point in someone going to a show and then just sitting there and ruining the experience for someone else. They could have sold the tickets to someone who actually wanted to be there, because I know a lot of other people who were dying to go.

I was at a Dead show in the 90's just before Jerry's death. It was in a really elitist outdoor amphitheater. No one was dancing, I had never been to a Dead show where people sat down. So I stood up and started to dance. The security came over and told me to sit down or leave. That was obnoxious. I just looked at all the aging gray-headed Deadheads and shook my head in shame for them. In the 70s and 80s not one of them would have put up with the establishment telling us what to do. They would have all been on their feet telling the cops to f*-off. There was no weed, no dancing, no tie-dyed peasant skirts. No wonder Jerry died the next year, his heart was probably broken.

I'm kind of that friend. It's not that I want to always be right, it's that if you don't back your argument up with solid reasoning I'm not going to change my mind. I ask questions like "If you think this about this, how come you think this about this?" And it comes off as me trying to prove them wrong when really I'm just trying to understand their reasoning.

I'm similar, and it bugs the out of me when people would rather accuse me of being stubborn and always having to be right than simply offering up a decent argument. People say the stupidest things to me, and I've legitimately been told to listen to factually incorrect advice just for the sake of listening to what other people tell me.

I would not say that. I find your posts and comments to both suggest that you are highly intelligent. I might suggest, if you haven't already, that you read The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell.
Now I do not claim to have done it alone. Perhaps if I had chosen not to be a ****, the tipping point may well have still been achieved. I joined a bandwagon that many other prominent posters rode.
If, on the other hand, the tipping point had not been reached, we would be inundated with video posts that would require "a minute" here, 5-minutes there, 30 minutes later, and the pace of responding to opinions would have dramatically changed on Amirite.
By being a douche-bag, I (and other like-minded posters) helped get the word out that Amirite members were not interested in watching videos to discover the poster opinions. I find that the quality of video posts improved quickly and dramatically - maybe not because of my "****"ish behavior, but maybe in part, because of it. So you are welcome, I was happy to endure much mud-slinging and hate for the greater good.

if that was the case then you can be accused of any crime and if you cannot prove that you did not do it then you will be convicted of doing so. someone could claim that you raped them and if you don't have any proof that you didn't then you are now a sex offender with a felony charge and you'll be spending a few years in prison.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: “Mankind”. It's made up of two separate words—“mank” and “ind”. What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Eh, part of advocating them is knowing as much as I can about them. As far as toxicity goes, it's one of the worst. If we're talking purely about dosage, it's easier to fatally overdose on alcohol than cocaine, and it's similar to heroin.
As far as long-term effects go, alcohol has an extremely long list of horrible effects. If I recall correctly, it causes somewhere between six and thirteen different types of cancer, and otherwise negatively impacts virtually every organ in the body.
As far as acute effects of intoxication go, I'm not a fan of that, either. It greatly reduces judgement and motor skills, which is a bad combination. It pretty much slows down your brain rather than altering how it works. I've been completely stoned out of my mind and still manage to be smarter and more careful than a drunk person. I've been **** up on DXM and never approached being as trashed as people become on alcohol. It is connected to over half of all suicides. Plus, someone extremely important to me has said horrible things while drunk. That didn't make me happy.
When compared to everything else, alcohol is the third leading cause of death in the United states.

Smacking is necessary, if a child runs into the street, you would not wait for them to be ran over by a truck and say "you deserved it" to their lifeless body. You would intervene and discipline them in a tangible way. In essence, you give the child a little bit of physical or emotional pain now to avoid a lot of pain later. amirite?

I disagree. Everything that was great about this site is still here. The only difference is the person deciding POTD. And it doesn't really matter which post gets the title, it's all about having fun with a lot of people commenting on it. Plus, it'll be interesting having more diverse/unexpected POTDs. As for the people getting banned and comments being deleted, it's just because most of them are groundless hate reactions to change, which aren't fair for the new admin who's just doing the best he can to inherit the site.

Some people don't quite understand what "equality"means. For example, Spike TV's old slogan was "the first network for men" but some women were offended by this.
