Time for the annual profile update:
Hello, My name is Jack. I was born in 1995 and I grew up in CIncinnati, Ohio.
I like to consider myself a writer. I have an account on allpoetry.com as well as storywrite.com under the username "Pensoul". If you are interested in reading some of my work you can go to : http://allpoetry.com/Pensoul
When it comes to politics, I consider myself more conservative. I tend to lean to the right on a lot of things. Legalization of marijuana, however, is an exception. Go figure.
I am a practicing Catholic. I like when people ask me about my faith. I think it's good to have a respectful exchange between those of different beliefs.
I love playing (American) football. I am currently playing on Elder High School's Varsity team. I am a junior. I am also currently single and ready to mingle.
I tend to get annoyed easily by America bashing as well as Religion bashing posts. I love my country and I love God. It seems like the people who bash are the ones with the least information. I also hate the Nickelback bashing trend. You are not popular or cool for hating on Nickelback. They got some good .
All of the above, plus Christians are most vocal about wanting to "save" atheists. Most other religions are happy to let atheists be. I don't know if other religions have "missionaries" that go out and try to convert non-believers.
Our president has worn out his use/excuse of "not knowing" or being ignorant of/about major developing scandals. If he does not know what is going on, then that is a sign of incompetence, weakness, and lack of leadership. Amirite?
These weapons are surely not a deterrent. A bad shock or a few bruises are not going to stop a desperate criminal from attempting a crime. Guns are a deterrent because of the risk for serious injury and death. This idea is also neglecting the fact that criminals are able to acquire guns illegally. Now the situation will be a criminal with real bullets against a civilian with rubber bullets or a taser. I'd be willing to bet that a criminal with an actual gun will not be afraid of rubber bullets.
Putting myself in the mindset of a robber who's willing to kill, I don't see that as a deterrent. I see that as laughable. I really like the idea though, finding a non-lethal deterrent would be really nice.
Surely a good compromise in the guns debate would be to give people wishing to defend themselves a non-lethal weapon like a taser or a gun with rubber bullets, that way they can defend themselves by temporarily incapacitating the enemy until the police arrives and nobody dies in the process. It's just as much a deterrent to criminals without the death.
New Years Resolutions are a good way to begin your year with achievable goals if you actually put work into them. People that complain about failing them every year don't have the willpower or are simply too lazy to follow up with action on their own words, amirite?
