If everyone lost 5 pounds at the same time, the earth would be thrown out of orbit, amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
The earth ways 1.32277357 × 10^25 pounds. Do you really think a loss of 30 billion pounds of mass would do anything?

LOL "ways".
I dunno much about science, but doesn't the energy we burn through exercise convert into another form of energy, and what we lose through pissing/shitting/sweat, still have a significant mass?

Fuuuuckkkk I tried to edit it but I was like 2 seconds too late.
I'm assuming the OP meant if 5 pounds of mass suddenly vanished from everyone, not just converted to other forms of matter.

I didn't point it out to mock you, I myself make a shitload of spelling errors, I just thought that particular one was funny.
Yeah, but people aren't the only things on earth that contribute to it's mass. Therefore, even if humans did lose the mass, the earth itself wouldn't become significantly lighter.
And, come to think of it, we don't weigh that much as it is. Like, until the earth gets absorbed into the sun, other plant and animals lives are going to continue after the human race is gone.

Yep and that's what I meant in my first comment up th3re
by Anonymous12 years ago
since theres probably an equal amount of people all around the world, no, I don't think so.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Well that 5 pounds may leave the person, but since you cannot destroy matter, it would simply go somewhere else and still be on Earth.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Even if that much weight was lost, it would be uniform throughout the spherical earth and wouldn't really make a difference
by Anonymous12 years ago
If they poop it out, then it would stay on Earth.

Good job not taking a joke, guys!
