+321 One reason why my generation doesn't listen to adults, is because very few parents or teachers follow through on punishments/threats, so usually they know there will be no real consequence for there actions, so they feel they can do whatever they want and get away with it with a slap on the wrist. amirite?

another reason could be that the some of us are born deaf, so they couldn't listen to adults even if they wanted to.

Ouch that slap on the wrist really hurt! I'm suing you!

I never understood why people were so against harsh punishment. If someone put a gun to your head and said "DO YOUR HOMEWORK OR I'LL BLOW YOUR F@#!ING BRAINS OUT!!!" you wouldn't say, "Meh. Not worth it." If you make weak threats like "wagging your finger at them disapprovingly," then they won't be too worried even if they know you WILL do it.

Exactly. My friend has run away (not kidding) at LEAST 15 times, longest time she ran away without being caught was a month, she got grounded for two weeks. Not even the ammount of time she was gone for, sheesh.

Last year a 15 year old girl from a city close to where I live got murdered. The person responsible was underage so his punishment was only 6 months in jail. That seems kind of... wrong in a way.

I know my neighbor was caught by police with his friends for underage the next day he was out walking the streets. When I got in trouble last year for F's on my report card I lost my room, computer, phone, and i pod and his mom says "Shame on you." And this is why people hate our generation.

Finally someone who understands! My parents are exactly like this!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My parents are the exact opposite. They took me to a grad party an hour away from our house, and at 1 AM I got annoyed and asked when we were going home since I had to be up by 10 the next morning. They took away my phone (supposedly for two years), grounded me for the whole summer, and have banned me from using the laptop. I'm on a PSP right now.

that stinks. My parents are always threatening but they never do anything.
