That's the old testament. New testament Jesus said 'who is with out sin may cast the first stone'. After Jesus came, a lot of things changed.
Ya I was about to say, Jesus trumped all the Old Testament rules, so if they obeyed it's teaching then it wouldn't be that way.
True, although the fact that there was a time where everything followed the harsh orders of the Old Testemant...is very scary.

Of course, obeying the Bible as it's meant to be obeyed isn't the same as taking out-of-context passages literally...
