You didn't know that the main characters in Spongebob represented the Seven Deadly Sins. Amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Who represents which sin?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Spongebob - Lust
Patrick - Sloth
Gary - Gluttony
Squidward - Wrath
Sandy - Vanity
Mr. Krabs - Avarice
Plankton - Envy

Those aren't even the right sins. They're Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Pride, Wrath, Greed and Sloth.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Those are exactly the same sins, except you called vanity pride and avarice greed.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Because that's what they're called. You can't change their names to synonyms.
by Anonymous12 years ago
The ones I used are the correct ones, at least according to where I heard them, but both names are valid.
Even if I used the wrong names, they're still "the right sins." That's like saying that killing is against the 5th commandment but murdering isn't.

You heard wrong then. And they aren't the right sins if they're the wrong names. It's an official list of 7 words that can't be replaced.

A sin is an action or a lack of action that goes against God's teachings. A sin is not a word. Just because I used the slightly less accurate/popular word doesn't mean it's a completely different crime. Believe me, nobody has ever been found not guilty of murder for saying "I didn't murder him, I killed him."

It's an official list of seven sins with their names. Their names cannot be changed.

Many people have changed them.
Their names aren't even written in English. I don't think it matters that much how we translate it.
