+849 My immature sixteen year old sister shouldn't have gotten a BMW for her birthday, especially because when i turned sixteen i just got my dad's 40 year old broken down truck amirite?

Wow, I hate when parents are like that...

That is beyond unfair. *No* child should get a brand new car for their 16th birthday, for a few reasons; 1. Extremely high insurance rates. Young kids have high rates, and new cars have higher rates. CHACHING. 2. They are just learning how to drive. Do you know how likely it is to get into an accident? 3. They will expect to get everything they want. I'm turning 16 soon, and yes, I want a car so badly, and my parents are willing to buy a car. It will be a used, inexpensive car. Under $5,000. It's only because I'm very mature and borderline paranoid when it comes to this stuff. Also, I've had an A-average my entire life, I'm on the track team, and stuff like that. Cars should be *earned*. They shouldn't be expected of parents.

A new, or almost new car is ok in my oppinion...But a BMW?!? I'm so sorry op.

A new car for a 16 yr old? No matter HOW careful they are, that is crazy. They should have a few months of experience before getting a new car

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Honesty, if their parents want to spend all that money on them, I don't care. Congrats to them for getting awesome parents.

I agree with all the comments. Also that's pretty fucked up, OP. You should let them know

THAT SUCKS BALLS!

I just think kids should buy their own car, unless maybe they have tried to and cant get a job and their parents buy them a used one.

Kids nowadays have it easy. Back to the coal mines for 12 hours a day I say! Make em work!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I understand wanting to have a reliable car, but a BMW is fucking ridiculous. You have to work for something like that.

i have a fifteen thousand dollar limit for my first car. Yay

Do all just about all teens in America get cars for their sixteenth birthdays? Here in Australia, thats practically unheard of. Usually we have to buy them ourselves. :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats the way to do it! I mean OP got a ripoff and its totally unfair but at least they got a car. My parents would never let me in a million years.
